A bad ref can make your chances of winning virtually zero. I personally did not see the game, but from what my dad told me, the ref should have been wearing a USA shirt. :\

lol the ref was blind they missed tons of calls for and against both teams. No id on't think they threw the game in for the usa. both teams played hard and at times dirty.

as someone said they have a hurt ass over it.

Canada did in FACT violate the rule the ref called them on. Their complaint isn't that they didn't violate the rule, but only that rule isn't normally enforced.

The soccer game medal is pointless since not all of the best countries were allowed to compete. The U.S mens weren't allowed to compete, even though we are one of the best.
lolwut? America has one of the best football teams in the world?

There are thirty five teams that are better than you.

I'm so god damn sick of the football/futbol joke. Seriously, its been played out for 20 years now. Besides that, from what I know of history, soccer was the original name of the sport OUTSIDE of the US.

Watching NBC right now, why is this even considered an Olympic sport?

Not this one?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01ljwmx
kinda mentions it, stuff is arbitrary. some countries win a lot of medals because the sports are popular, cricket is popular in india for instance but not an olympic sport so some of their best athletes have no chance at a medal, same with american baseball apparently some sports like tai kwon do have a ton of medals because of all the classes and the rest...

How the fk did Tom Daley get a re-dive cause of "flash photography"??? WHO the hell does that!

That's like getting a restart after you fall in a track race after blaming it on photographers in the audience. What the eff?

Being interfered with by another competitor is totally different than diving by yourself. It's not like anyone pushed home over the platform.

was great watching this evenings broadcast, even though it started at 8 no actual sporting events were shown until after 9.

women in the 1600 relay destroyed the field, that's about the closest you can come to looking like you're about to be lapped at that short of a distance.

I watched the NBC coverage for the first time today. Compared to the 6 Canadian stations that cover the olympics here in Ottawa in realtime (repeated in primetime), that was pathetic. For example, during diving they showed only the same 5 divers all the time instead of all the competitors. The 4x100m was all about Jamaica vs USA and I don't recall them even mentioning who was in the other lanes ecept when they gave the final result. Heck, they seemed to spend more time on background 'tear-jerker' stories than the actual event.

Abysmal coverage.

And Bolt is a giant douche. A very fast giant douche. Talk about stroking one's ego...

The Men's 4x100 was one of the best races I've ever seen. You could tell early on that Ryan's stride wasn't going to match that of Bolt's. All 4 of the US sprinters did a hell of a job though. Hell, they tied the world record. That's with Tyson Gay's previous injuries, so definitely a hard fought performance. I was glad to see the handoffs were much improved, but still had room for improvement.

Well he's an amazing athlete. When you're as good as him, you can do that.

Also the last deathmarch of the games is today:
http://www.london2012.com/athletics/event/men-marathon/competition-format/
Athletes complete a first loop of 2.2 miles, which takes them to the River Thames, south to the Houses of Parliament, and back up to The Mall past Buckingham Palace. After this they run back to the river, and this time head east, towards the City of London and beyond to the Tower of London, in an eight-mile loop that is repeated three times before crossing the finishing line.

The course format is kind of uninspiring but whatever.

I dunno, I thought it was pretty cool of him to stop an interview to recognize that a national anthem was being played during a medal ceremony.
