A Democratic Congressman was sent a threatening letter from DOJ because he posted a criticism of Elon Musk online.

His statement could be considered a threat.

“What the American public wants is for us to bring actual weapons to this bar fight. This is an actual fight for democracy.”

He's just joking! Where's your sense of humor? (Yes I'm saying that very much tongue in cheek).

Maybe the second amendment people should do something....

I'd think that's a threat too, and yet conservatives had 0 concern when Trump made that statement.

Well... to be fair the only way to get out is another civil war, if that happens the dollar collapses and the Gold Standard would be the new one.

Yes, both of those statements are inflammatory as hell.

I have some faith that one man cannot turn the USA into a monarchy no matter who, and Trump's pretty stupid. Problem is so are tons of Americans including some on the SCOTUS who aren't very smart. However there are a lot of Americans who are not stupid, which we will see.

In the future, adjustments have to be made to protect the country from a scoundrel in the White House. The ones we have are clearly insufficient. A highly partisan congress makes the impeachment process as currently formulated useless (2/3 of Senate confirmation). A foolish Supreme Court cannot be allowed to make partisan decisions that blemish or negate the intentions laid down in the constitution.

He's obviously speaking in a metaphor. Unless, of course, they were in an actual bar at the time along with those he supposedly threatened. Otherwise, it's a patently ridiculous argument to even attempt to make. But, the guy in question is a J6 truther, so ...

There is a time and a place for that.
I reflect upon Germany's Hate Speech laws following WW2.
We will need to enact something like that to outlaw their MAGA religion. It is going to need to be extreme compared to traditional American law.
They need to support the effort to dismantle MAGA from root and stem. No half measures.

But first, they will need to take cover... I am not sure what sort of resistance people are imagining. But MAGA Nazis will turn to violence real fast.
Every news item featuring Trump and Musk about their "progress" since inauguration should probably be dismissed outright as a matter of simple logic: any political movement and leadership that spawns so many outright lies in their public communications cannot be taken seriously.

But let us say something with great emphasis. Those who traffic in insane conspiracy stories and such lies are MURDERING THE TRUTH. So -- barring common-sense leftist response, one could expect that violence from either side will erupt eventually.

I guess we can add metaphors to the list of things conservatives are easily confused by.

He did say "bring actual weapons"...

Its a metaphor unless a Republican says something like "it's going to be a bloodbath" over importing automobiles from other countries if he isn't elected.

Your brow furrowing concern is noted.

I'm sure you were equally concerned over all thevl violent rhetoric and actions that have come out of the right wing for the past decade or more.

Yes, It sounds remarkably exactly like the violent rhetoric coming from the left wing at present.

Ladies and gentlemen, a moron that continues to completely misread a statement.

Who, by the way, would likely have nothing to say about actual people that brought actual weapons to an actual government proceeding.

I say this with all due respect (which is below zero), go fuck yourself.

Isn't it cool when you can resort to telling people online to Go Fuck Themselves.

Kind of like the "Bloodbath" statement. That is all you have. Sad.

Well, if you continue with your mental gymnastics to defend Trump and Putin, what to expect? Also you don't respect the rest.

I don't know how anyone could vote for Trump one time. Let alone multiple times. I really didn't know too much about Trump at all. And I grew up in the Philly suburbs in the mid to late 80's. He was just a rich guy in the news here and there. Did I know what a colossal failure he was? No, because he kept appearing in the news and kept popping up with new business ventures. That was all I knew of him (As a sports fan, I did take notice how he destroyed the USFL). He was nothing more than a Robin Leach/Tammy Faye Baker/Dynasty type representative of wealth to me. I just didn’t pay attention to his nonsense because he brought nothing to my life and impacted it in no way whatsoever, good or bad. I just didn’t pay attention to him beyond thinking he was basically just a caricature of a rich douchebag. Until he started getting into politics, I always saw Trump as New York local color - tacky and a bit of a buffoon, but essentially harmless. In other words, just another Manhattan weirdo.

Once he declared his candidacy it took me between five and ten minutes to understand he was a colossal liar and gold-plated jerkoff. I also, of course, thought his run for office was a joke. The surprise it wasn't a joke and he was actually winning is like the surprise of someone standing on train tracks watching the locomotive heading toward them. All you had to do to avoid certain death, was to step off the tracks. Trump was unfit for office just by listening to him speak. Any reasonable person who listens to Trump pontificate for a few minutes ought to know he’s a serial liar, mentally ill sociopath/narcissist who doesn’t know shit about shit. You don’t even have to do any research on him. His horribleness and unfitness for ANY public office just slaps you right across the face.

Sorry. Do you actually believe that most of the political violence in the US (both rhetorical and actual) is coming from the left? Because every bit of data says that it's coming from the far right.
And that's with a further than centre right party in power whose leader has been known to publicly make calls for violence from his supporters!

Coming from the party of 2nd amendment remedies this is far from a threat.

Says the guy who totally didn't vote for Trump this time around yet carries on parroting GQP talking points.

"Why didn't you vote for Trump in 2024?"
"Oh you know, the standard completely normal political reasons that I'll keep to myself and don't affect my political opinions in general."
"So who did you vote for?"
"You wouldn't know them, they're not from around here..."

Ever notice that since the beginning of the first Trump administration, that he's tried to destroy the CIA as an establishment? Before Trump, all new employees had to be background-checked and vetted without mercy to assure their being squeaky clean. Remember all the trouble Aldrich Ames had caused, with inner CIA nightmare worries preceding his discovery by a decade or so? Paranoia was afoot: they believed there was a Soviet or Russian mole before they caught him.

I've even got second thoughts about hiring a Trumper for pest control over my house for the next year.
