Most here probably never heard of Admiral Thomas Moorer, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff during the Johnson presidency and one of the most vocal critics of Israel for its deliberate sinking of the USS Liberty during the 1967 Arab-Israeli war.
In 2003, along with other highly decorated military leaders (General Raymond G. Davis, USMC and Rear Admiral Merlin Staring, USN) issued their findings of the Independent Commission of Inquiry into the Israeli Attack on USS Liberty what they view as the cover-up by the US government due to Israeli pressure.
The USS Liberty incident should have been one of the biggest stories of the last century with top headlines by all the media and with numerous special investigative reports by the likes of 60 Minutes or other serious journalists and news outlets. But nothing, literally NOTHING.
