Integrated? It's a separate tab, dummy. Just don't click it.

i have to click library, and look at it there. i dont want to look at it. i just want 1 click to access the games. all that other bullshit doesnt need to be there. the download tab is retarded as shit too.

but it wasnt integrated into my game browser. i dont want to have to look at it if it isnt needed. Why does it have to be in the same category as my games?

So there is seriously no way to go back to the old ui?

really? having one extra word on that screen is the dealbreaker? i mean... it's not like it's a giant button in the middle of the screen or anything.

also... you can change the show settings on your games list to only show your installed games, recently played games, etc.

also you can change the way they're displayed... either showing the detailed screen with all the news and everything, just the straight list (most like the old UI), or have a view that shows only the cover/logo for the game.

that's a lot more customization than used to be available.

It defaults to Games, not media, dummy. It's just a word on the screen, dummy. The download tab is something Steam should have had from the beginning.

Dummy.

then why isnt there just a games tab? dummy. and what was so bad about the way downloads used to be displayed? Nothing. It shows the same info, except in its own tab for people who cant read.

what the hell do you need to customize steam for? all you do is load it up, and play a game.

The old one didn't show download speed (unless you hover over the tray icon, a PITA for people who hide tray icons) and the old one didn't tell you how big the files you were downloading are. This one is way, way better.

The library tab IS the games tab - all you have to do is NOT CLICK ANYTHING ELSE when you go into it. How the fuck do you manage to get your T-shirt on in the morning without choking yourself?

you know you can have steam make shortcuts for your game so you don't even have to look at steam to launch it right?

cuz it seems like all you want is to be able to load a game without looking at anything other than the icon/link/shortcut you have to click to run it.

When I double click the tray icon, how do I make it pop-up with my games list in mini-mode??? I've set it to mini-mode about ten times, and every time I click the tray icon it goes away. I mean wtf is the crap?

Wait, I think its working now. Strange.

It showed download speed for me. I think you just got a retarded version of steam. If the games tab is the library tab, why isn't it called games? whats the point of putting all that shit inside of it? Why not create separate tabs for everything so it's easier to get right to it? Idk why you're raging so bad, im just asking why the hell they had to add all this shit that isnt needed

The games tab isn't the library tab you stupid vagina. It's a subtab. If your imbecilic brain can't understand this then maybe you should check yourself into a facility because it's only a matter of time before your skull implodes into the vast black hole that exists between your ears, dummy

If all you want to see is your games then use Steam in "Small mode" and stop whining.

So the solution to having all information in a very simplified form is to go with an equally small form that has no information at all? Yes, that makes sense.

Everything, every stupid little thing has been complicated.

And what's this "custom lists" that ends the thread?

Also, I'm glad that the guy that came into the thread to troll is accusing a guy of trolling. 2/10 because you did that.

OH, and yes, I agree this is "Appling Down" the program for Mac users. Are they even planning on releasing it for Mac? They made everything pretty, wasteful, and harder to use. It's like SteamX or something.

I just tried to use the Steam browser. But oh, it's useless now because you can't freely change the address anymore so stupid people that can't figure out the Home button don't get confused.

Some people hate progress and those people are communists so if you hate the new Steam UI you are a communist.

I like the new UI, but beauty is only skin deep, and there are absolutely zero changes to their arcane purchasing system. I can't buy something for myself and something as a gift in the same transaction, really?

Eventually I hope they'll upgrade systems on Steam that actually matter, but as slowly as things tend to move at Valve, by the time that happens, Half Life 3 will have actually shipped.

I like how you can now hide the games you have which are not currently installed. I also like the big graphic icon option since it works well for my HTPC. Every other aspect seems like a step backwards.

Stop making me agree with you.

Although I must say, I like the font you used.

EDIT:

Also, no one has mentioned jump lists yet?

The font is squashed together, very little spacing between the letters.

I have switched to old steams Tahoma font and the old colours.
Here is how if you want to o such a thing.

In C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\resource\styles
Find steam.styles in your steam folder and open with notepad and search for:
Friends.InGameColor it should be "140 179 89 255"

Old steam used this
friends.ingamecolor "176 249 80 255"
Friends.OnlineColor "142 202 254 255"

Changing the fonts to old steam
basefont="Tahoma"
basefontbold="Tahoma Bold"

save the file then restart steam to make the changes.

So far, the UI is OK. It's not a huge improvement, honestly, but it's hardly a huge inconvenience either.

Not totally stable though. Tried to open up the browser in the steam overlay while TF2 was loading on a server map change, and it froze the game completely.

So far I've found 2 deal makers in the new Steam:
1. My games list is now fully alphabetical, regardless of whether a game is installed or not. This is a huge time saver when you have 100+ games in your steam list. In the old Steam I had to check installed games alphabetical and bottom of list and then uninstalled games, alphabetical and bottom of list. 4 places just to check for 1 game.

2. When you buy multiple games at a time, it will offer to install them all at once, instead of going through an install front end for each game slowly lagging Steam into non-functionality. This one is pretty huge functionality wise.

I did notice that videos are now on the store page, you get a customized page when you own a game, you can check who else owns the same games as you relatively easily, and the new graphics are all nice. But none of these were major for me.

I still don't like that browsing the store always takes you back to the first page of the new releases. They need a better way to browse new releases so that if you click something on page 5, that you can get back to page 5 safely.

Screwing with the overlay during load screens would crash Steam of old on occasion also. I never tested whether it was 100%, but I know it was enough that I learned to stop doing it.

last one worked fine. this one sucks dick. ive never had problems with the old one. this new one looks like the fat kid on the internet

the community feature has always sucked, its like facebook for video games. And no one gives a shit

so how do i change it back

You obviously have not read the features list. There are MANY more features in this version than the last one. One of the major features that I really like is the ability to group games by what ever the fuck you want to group them by, and then display only games from that group in your list. If you don't like the way it looks, use small mode.. I honestly see no downsides to this update.

So the solution to having all information in a very simplified form is to go with an equally small form that has no information at all? Yes, that makes sense.

Everything, every stupid little thing has been complicated.

If you don't like the super small mode, just view your games in the grid view. The grid view only shows the name of the game and the game's picture in a grid. Not good enough for you? Go hide in a ditch somewhere until they release a version that you like. With the custom lists, you can group your games in any way that you please. Say you have a bunch of RTS games.. you can group them all together and then set steam to only show your RTS games. This is a huge improvement for people who have lots of games on steam.

It actually did tell you both right on the games screen.

I only like it now because it tells me how much time is remaining, which is so incredibly useful rather than a percentage.
