Love the new UI, it's better in every way. The old UI was definitely showing it's age.

Now you have videos embedded in the actual game's store page. It's not based in IE anymore which is a great thing by itself (no more forced IE windows). It's more responsive. A lot of new features like seeing which friends own the game, showing you hours played, etc.

The beta was pretty shitty for me, lots of installs broke, had to get reinstalled, and then the UI broke, so I had to play around for a while to get it to actually go back to the original.

So far no problems with the current release though.

The new UI is literally worse in every way. I cannot see how a person could argue it is better. Everything that took one click now takes 2 to 4. They rounded all the edges and enlarged everything. Sweet, round edges, I give a shit. As if steam didn't hog memory enough, now it has to hog VRAM too.

Blah Blah Blah. Old steam was broken garbage with an ugly UI. The new UI is 500 million times better.

The new friends list starts with invites instead of friends. It's not an invites list. IT IS A FRIENDS LIST! Why?! Might as well put a list of all 50 states on there before the friends list too. Might come in handy.

My friends list only has my friends on the top. There's no "Invites" section at all.

The shift-tab menu is covered in shit. I want my friends list, and 2 or 3 chat windows open to talk to friends. I don't want a friends list, another friends list that only shows 4 friends, news that shows nothing, achievements list that means nothing because steam keeps resetting all my achievements anyway, and whatever other crap they threw on there just to eat up VRAM and make it hard to fit 3 chat windows on there.

I personally don't care what the shift-tab menu looks like because I don't use it. I wouldn't care if they removed it, or made all the windows 1024x768 non-resizable.

The games list is gigantic and annoying, I didn't have to scroll before. It didn't work at all for the first hour that I updated, and it didn't for any of my friends either. We could start a lobby, but none of us could join anyone else's lobby or join any games. "Disconnect: Session no longer available."

The new games list is awesome. Informative and useful. If you don't like it, you can switch to an old plain/boring view.

At least make it so I can customize or turn off any of this new shit. I couldn't move that invites bar, and it defaults to open. Just to make a 1 click operation into a 5 click operation and a scroll. Make it so I can turn the games list back into a size that isn't gigantic. No, the text doesn't have to be size 120, you can put it back to 12 so it's all one one screen instead of 7 pages long.

I do agree with this. A truly good UI is one that's extremely customizable.

But other than being worse in literally every way, it's ok. Did I mention it sucks moldy animal penis?

I'm pretty sure Valve-designed cancel buttons have only ever been cosmetic.

I'm not sure that is true. I'm pretty that when clicked, some of them will cause a failure after the entire process completes anyway.

I like the different organizational options for games. A large library was insanely painful to manage before. It's still somewhat painful now, but less so. If they added folders so I could more easily sort my games (lists aren't good enough), it'd be a big improvement.

Oh, and for the dude complaining about the friends list having invitations on top...for me, Friends is still on top, invitations under that, and my groups under that.

So there is seriously no way to go back to the old ui? at least give games its own tab so its 1 click. and go back to the simple list design. i dont give a fuckw hat the icon for the game is. i can read, i dont have to look at pictures to identify shit.
