I hope they continue with the therapy sessions...at least sometimes. David Krumholtz was great, and it'd be nice to see him in a recurring role.

Sam Waterston was incredible in last night's episode. He's always incredible but it's always nice to see a reminder of why he's such a great (underrated?) actor.

I literally thought his head would explode. Literally.

Waterston and Krumholtz are both great pieces of the show and I agree that more therapy session shows would be fun. I loved how they used it to go back and forth and tell the story. I didn't see West Wing so it was pretty new and fresh to me.

Munn, to me, is the breakout star of this show and I hope they realize it. I was worried about her after the first episode or two but she seems to get better with each week. Maybe it is the writers breaking her character out of her shell or she is just getting more comfortable or something, but she is much better.

Of course, this show would not be what it is without Dumber Daniels pulling the ultimate 180 in the lead role. I have to say that this show would not be the same without his stalwart lead being pulled upon by his many vulnerabilities and quirks. It really does make for highly interesting TV.

All pretty much agreed. I was never a fan of Munn, and up until this episode severely doubted if she could act at all, but in this last ep she really shone.

Everyone in the entire cast is good to excellent, and let's not forget that they have the great good fortune of Sorkin giving them the crackerjack dialogue that let's them shine.

You have only to watch, or try to watch, a show like Politcal Animals to see how poorly such a show fares in a lesser writer's hands.

I wonder if a certain, would-be, prominent forum film critic has the intellectual and critical flexibility and fortitude to reconsider his somewhat rash decision to jump on the trendy "hate on Sorkin" bandwagon. I mean really, Sorkin has repeated certain basic phrases more than once over his multi-year, multi-project career? The horror!

The Newsroom is as good as anything on TV at this time, and Aaron Sorkin, its creator, is the underlying reason why. Credit where credit is due!

I certainly wouldn't be opposed to some Sorkin love, as he obviously has a lot to do with the quality of the show. I find most critics to be sampling from a small platter and injecting their past experiences into their current experience more often than not.

In other words, they're mostly full of shit...

Ha, I was thinking the same thing the other night while watching Political Animals pilot. They have some pretty good actors and the stories are okay, but all I can think about was how much better this show would be if Sorkin is writing it. I could almost feel at times that they are trying to write like Sorkin (long and/or fast emotional speech, etc), but failed horribly.

I'm really digging this show. I really feel like they're getting the political answers "right." Here's to hoping a right-wing conservative such as my dad will give it a chance, and maybe see his party/news network for what it has really become...

Newsroom needs to get away from real life stories....it's so boring and predictable and just doesn't work for a TV drama.

Yet you continue to watch it. You know what I do when I watch a show that I don't like because it's predictable and boring? I turn the channel.

I thougt last night's show was good.

Way, WAY too melodramatic about the whole killing Osama Bin Laden thing. Nobody I know even reacted in anyway, shape, or form in method that the shows was portraying and I was working as a civilian on an overseas army base at the time of the announcement. My GF, who was in downtown Washington DC at the time, also agreed with me.

Wasn't there mass celebrations in the streets IIRC?

At this pace, it will catch up with present day at the beginning of season 2. What then?

I expect they will keep the show a few months behind current events from then on.

btw even if last nights show wasn't the best they have done, it still was an order of magnitude better than almost any other show on tv.

As for realism, I remember that night. I was going to go to sleep when I started seeing the news that something big had happened. When they reported OBL was dead I shouted out "fuck yeah" and I was alone in the house at the time.

I watched the first 2 episodes. Normal people don't talk like machine guns, and replying instantly with no pause to think. Horrible main character with no social skills.

Who watches shows about normal people? The premise of like half the shows on TV is based on "broken savant" type characters.

I thought it was hillarious that he ate the pot brownies/cookies and ended up having to go on air to report OBL's death. I can understand why some might not like the show but it really is head and shoulders above most of the new shows coming out in the past 24 months.

Oh and btw, for those who weren't in America at the time, there was lots of celebration amongst the still awake crowd when we got OBL.
