It will start as Nvidia only. Where it goes from there is up in the air still.
Thanks. Have they made any official announcement about it or is this based on something else?

I think G-Sync is great stuff by Nvidia, but it's pretty sad how quickly it has fallen by the wayside. This thread is proof enough of it - G-Sync just isn't interesting enough to be worthy of front page discussion.
They are the ones who created the chip and Displayport code modifications. They have said it requires Keplar to work.
They have made a note that they would like to see this on other manufacturers cards and would be willing to work with them. I've heard other reports mention that they may open it up to non Nvidia cards.
That makes it pretty clear that it will start as Nvidia only, but may not stay that way.
OK thanks. I guess I'll wait and see. I'm not in the market for a new monitor right now anyway.
I have not been tracking this news much. Can anyone tell me definitively if this is Nv-only or is it open to AMD and Intel too?
So does anyone know why there are no manufacturers making 120hz IPS panels? I know some Korean monitors overclock, but IMO that does not count. I am talking about factory-spec IPS 120hz monitors.

With Dynamic Resolution? :hmm:
Wasn't there a mod that offered similar with Skyrim?
I dunno if I should even post this, seems like Microsoft is trolling... Dynamically reducing resolution to maintain fps at the cost of IQ doesn't seem like a comparable alternative to what G-Sync offers.

Isn't that similar to what John Carmack did in RAGE?
If it is, let's hope that no developer ever uses that garbage ever again. The textures in Rage were a joke, and mega-textures are a joke. To think that THESE guys were the same dudes that created ground breaking PC FPS games such as Quake, Q2 and Doom II is just pathetic.
In any case what's being described with the XB1 isn't anything like Gsync, it's more like adaptive vsync as far as I can tell.
