That's not at all what I said. What I was saying is you don't have to pay for any feature upgrade. As in, no one does. You were saying that what if people had to pay an extra $100 for added features. My point is, you already are faced with added cost for features. This is just another one.

And yes, "you" do not have to pay for it, but there are many others who will pay for it.

What ever. You have your position you are pushing. Enjoy. eace:

I just didn't think the idea that other monitor features are all free was accurate.

Though to be fair, I do realize you weren't thinking of G-sync as a monitor feature, but as a GPU feature.

So after all this I still have to buy a Qnix 27 inch 120hz 1440p?

God Damn It.

Not going to buy an Nvidia GPU and a 800 dollar display just to get TN.

Grossly overpriced. IPS or no sale.

If no announcements of cheaper 1440p TN and/or IPS G-Sync, I'm just going to break down and buy the QNIX.

One major problem I have with that 1440p screen being TN is that at 27" you are going to see the colour shift in the corners. I already see some colour shift at 24" at desktop distances so a 27" is going to have really obvious shifting at normal viewing distances.

These monitors are all way overpriced and nothing but TN is a real disappointment, as is the lack of 4k. Gsync is awesome but I feel its coming crippled out of the box.

those prices ... they hurt ...

what this means for me is i won't be able to buy until the second generation of Gsync monitors come out , or at least until BenQ makes a decently priced model ..

It depends on NV's premium for the kit.. if they want $199 for it, I'm sure BenQ won't be giving you a cheap monitor anytime soon.

It's expensive stuff to live on the halo edge of gaming.

It's too expensive, but at last a 1440p display that can properly compete with current 1080p 120/144hz panels specs wise. The Korean panels were simply not in the same league for FPS gaming.

I can finally move beyond 1080p for CS and BF!

I'd be completely okay with a TN based 1440p panel, if it's 120hz with lightboost. That sounds pretty amazing TBH.

We're not completely sure it's TN though, are we ? I was under the impression that only AMVA panels could do 1440p @ 120hz on an official basis. Any LG IPS panel at 1440p/120hz would be out of spec. Not the case with AMVA. At least, that's my understanding.

And AMVA is quite a lot better than TN.

You may be right? Ryan Shrout was trying to get the info from the Asus reps and they said it's TN, but not quite TN..

Posted this in the other thread, but thought it should go here as well. Asus does indeed have a 4K GSync model in production, and demoing, but not yet available for purchase. Running at 60fps so obviously is 60hz..not 30hz.

No telling how much it will cost, but should be a very good monitor.

My Experience with lightboost is that it makes colors washed out and reduces contrast. I no longer use it on my Asus monitor. Can't tell a difference in motion clarity either way.

Way too early, so it's way too expensive. Early adopters, as always, are going to get hammered. Isn't going to hurt much to wait for more selections and by definition, competition. And I'm not much for IPS panels. They were always too slow and had ghosting problems, so I went TN and always have. Better for gamers anyway.

Thank goodness. Finally a sight of a decent monitor using gsync. That looks like the PQ321, and I'm assuming they added gsync to it.

You can tell it's a high quality screen because as the camera angle moves to and fro while they film the image remains consistent. Compare that to when the video starts and they have a few monitors behind them which are obviously cheap TNs with shifting and inconsistency apparent.

Probably will cost close to $4000 though considering the PQ321 is $3500. At least it clarifies that it's actually possible for gsync to work on a screen other than TN. Without any actual announcements and all the FUD trying to make TN garbage monitors be considered quality, I was concerned it couldn't be done for one reason or another.

I don't think I'm ready to try 4K again until we see next-gen big die flagships on 20nm, but at least this means we'll likely see a 1440p or 1600p IPS with support at some point.

My 1080p 120hz asus sold new for $700 and they only dropped to about $500 now and its TN. I wouldn't expect that new 1440p asus to drop much for a long time.
The only thing that sucks for me, is that by the time the asus is released there won't be any new Nvidia cards out and my 670's will get hammered at 1440p. Not buying 780's either. Too old by the time the monitor is released. Epic first world problems.

My point was that it took 2 years to drop $200. That's not worth waiting that long for. If you want to wait 2 years to save a few bucks, then that's what you'll do.

Nice little disclaimer at the bottom of this page:

Note that unless directly caused by NVIDIA’s own negligence, NVIDIA is not responsible for any product damage or warranty issues, including, but not limited to, the voiding of a third party product warranty that may occur by using, integrating or substituting the warrantied product with or into third party product.

Maybe wait for the displays with it integrated, guys.
