It was a mistype, what I mean is that there's a lot of reading/browsing whether its news, books, shopping, social networks, magazines, etc.
Most people watch video on tablets? Try only 13%
^ Well that's just one source from your research. It doesn't cover everyone. That was posted back in October 2011 too, it's not most up to date. Also keep in mind, more and more people are buying electronic pads as they are gaining popularity.
You are also forgetting the fact that viewing websites with white or light background will have impact also. You tilt that ipad a little bit and watch that colors shift and lose brightness. We call it "wash out". As you can see, this doesn't apply for movies only. It apples for everything. With GT7.7 (SAMOLED+) the display doesn't get washed out. It stays strong and clear breeze, similar to plasma displays.
We all know you don't like the iPad 3.
I don't like iPad 3, but I don't hate Apple. Apple has made a lot of mistakes. I want them to improve for better displays... and compatibility. But I doubt this is going to happen anytime soon.
Let everyone else enjoy their iPads.
I wasn't stopping them. If they like them, continue to like them. If they don't like what I post here, ignore me, or don't read this thread and go on with your ipad and enjoy. I wasn't forcing everyone to hate on iPad 3....
For my use, the retina screen is stunning. Everything is razor sharp, its like getting a new pair of glasses.
For reading small texts you mean? Yeah, duh, of course it will be sharp on that aspect, but that's for text only. Your eyes will get tired soon though, unless you keep your face close to the screen so you can read those fine small texts. Viewing distance is shortened with this new iPad device.
For videos, completely different story. Things start to get dull, or to some extent, blurry. 352P video will look horrible. 480P will be horrible. 576P will be horrible. 720P? I bet you $500 that iPad 2 will have sharper / crisper video than the iPad 3. For 1080p, you may get a few extra detail and probably not lose sharpness however.
1280 x 768 or 1280 x 800 native display would be the "schweet spot". But Apple decided to go too high on the res. Not good.
