Well at least now I know who to ask when it comes time to buy a stick for the next Street Fighter!

i actually have a circle gate for the sanwa too. i wanted to try it after using the octo gate for a while, because growing up with happ parts the had no gates or anything. the sanwa circle gate feels a lot like how the happ feels, because it is the same thing where there are no directions to "catch" the stick. but after using the circle gate shortly i went back to the octogate pretty quickly. i think the circle gates with the sanwa is a little tougher because the sticks have much less of a throw than the happ parts do. it was a lot easier for me to get directions with the happ joystick than it is for the sanwa with the circle gate.

if you like the square gate i really would see no reason why you would want to really try something different, unless it's just for the feel.

Well I've never felt a octo gate. I've always used the square with sanwa sticks cause it's the standard arcade configuration I believe. It's only $2 for the insert since I already have the restrictor plate.

this thing is really nice and solid. i love how you can pop it open and start messing with it. i can't wait until they start putting out "conversion kits" to make the button layout different. i will change mine so the 2 rows of buttons are directly on top of eachother as soon as i can, just used to it.

gonna mess around with it late tonight though, can't wait!

oh yeah! how killer instinct should be played!

http://i.imgur.com/qX4qINK.jpg

anyways, last night the first thing i tried was the dojo mode 32 because i tried it with the pad and tried for like 5 minutes, then said screw this. couldn't even pass the first combo. so with the joystick, the first combo took me about 3 tries lol. it just feels SSSSOOOOO much better to me. there were a lot of combos on the last dojo mode, some of them fairly tough, but i finished all of them probably after like 10-15 minutes.

as far as the joystick goes, this thing is VERY solid. it is definitely FEELS built better than the original TE. to me, the TE felt like it used some kind of cheaper/thinner plastic. i mean it was a great stick, don't get me wrong, but it didn't have that "solid" feel that my wooden custom joystick has. this one on the other hand, feels extremely solid and it is heavy too. it has good weight to it.

as far as customizing goes, it's awesome. you press a button and the top pops open. i had my octo gate and extra spring put on within like 3 minutes, and i didn't even have to unscrew anything. that was a really nice feeling to be able to do that to be honest.

i'm definitely extremely happy with this though. i was in training mode for a good bit last night just getting the feel with the joystick, and it was very easy to do combos with this, and sabrewulf feels like a different character because pressing back/forth and up/down now is not a chore. and dashing is not a pain in the ass anymore either.

going to play online tonight hopefully for a bit if i can get my NAT issue fixed. if anyone wants to play let me know.

The first version of the TE did feel a bit "cheap" in the case area. I think the SF X Tekken stick felt a lot more solid. I am still waiting on Amazon for my TE2. I am just playing other games until I get it; I am just awful without a stick. I think I just dislike the game when I know I can do something (like anti air DP) and then I fail to input SRK motion half the time.

I'll have my stick tomorrow and can start doing some practice and such.

nice, just call before you go to be sure they get it cause i think you said you are getting it from gamestop. based on posts over on srk, gamestops actually getting them and their dates are all over the place. some got em already, but many others haven't and they have no clue when they are going to be getting them in stock.

I ordered in store but it is shipping from the warehouse in Texas to my house. It is scheduled for delivery via ups tomorrow.

Basically what happened was the store had no reserve SKU in the system at the time but since it was available online they could order in store and have it shipped to me. When they do this you get free shipping no matter the cost or weight (for standard ground). This was fine for me as it is only a couple days transit time from Texas to Florida.

From what I gather they arrived to the warehouse in time for launch and they began shipping orders on Friday. Not every store will get them and pretty much only pre-orders are going to be filled at most locations.

ah gotcha, yeah if you ordered to your house and have tacking and stuff you are good. but many stores who even took preorders didn't get them yet. and stores are ONLY getting them for preorders, and according to in store, they will never carry it in store other than this initial batch of preorders. if you want one now they direct you to just order it online.

It says unavailable now too on the website heh. I wonder if it made a difference that I went to GameStop on the first day it was up. Otherwise I may not get one yet.

Madcatz needs to make this a regular item for them and make more of these. I was thinking of picking up a second one but might have to wait for multiconsole sticks or mods.

im going to mod one of my joysticks for a 2nd one. i will probably end up using it more than this one to be honest just because i like the button layout more, but i woulda gotten this one anyways because it's killer instinct and i just want it lol. hope to have it done by next week im going to have a friend do the soldering because i jacked up my first attempt and ruined the x1 controller pcb with my soldering iron, i think it's too old and the tip is just messed up and it gets too hot too.

Is it a controlled heat soldering iron or just an "always on full blast mode" iron? I prefer one that has variable heat because a lot of times the cheap ones get super hot an melt things they shouldn't.

variable temps. 20w or 40w. it is old and i've used it for a long time. tip is very dull on it and i wonder if it, along with my flux and solder, sitting my garage for over a year, through the cold winter last year and now, had anything to do with it acting funny. i've never had issues with 20w before. but also after reading the srk thread, i think the pcb is just kind of hard to work with because other people had some issues too.

I'd imagine the drivers for the Xbox One on PC aren't finished yet, so it wouldn't work. You could probably use a generic driver and trick it to be a 360 controller and do just fine though.

Does the TE2 work in a computer like the original 360 sticks do?

I'll try it when I get mine and see what happens.

Ohh...forgot that I also need to do the electrical tape mod so it activates the micro switches faster.

That's a bummer. I like the benefits of the stick over my current TE, but I would like PC compatibility. It's coming eventually, but I guess I could just wait for when it does to see if there's a deal on the stick.

you wouldn't be finding one of them around any time soon anyways heh.

curious, what benefits are you talking about over the te? just that it's easier to mod?

I like that it opens up easily and such. The less I have to mess with something (i.e. potentially break it) the better! :$
