Just a reminder to everyone, don't forget about the Wii Number thread.

If anybody already had Otaking/mlm on their systems, please update our Wii Number

I gave up with it. Toooo much time to add all the numbers. Greatful for all the funny/famous Mii's though. I don't know who had who because I'm going to probably clean up my list... heh

anyone have any idea on if save games can be transfered? I tried to move wario smooth moves from one system to another and it didn't seem to work

I remember there was some issue with zelda, but that it was a firmware issue that was patched in the first update. Can anyone shed any light on this?

Don't know if anyone else is still keeping up with this thread, but is the blue light in the drive supposed to be on all the time? Or does it just flip on when you insert a game? Mine turned on the first time I inserted a gam, but hasn't been on since.

edit: never mind, found the answer.

Yeah just at boot and also when it's downloading updates when it's off. There is a chip you can install for $20 that will make it fade on/off like a Mac when the unit is off and make it stay on and react to sound when the Wii is on, here's a link:

That's pretty smooth. Mine is too new for me to willing to do anything like that to it though. It's funny too because right after I read your post I looked up and the Wii is glowing.

I must have been living under a rock lately. When they come out with a third one? I have the same problem with the slide not staying in place. I already got my v2 replacements. Would Nintendo replace those for the v3 ones free too?

I guess you could just request more for your Wii. The only bad thing about the v. 3 straps is that they do not have the cool little Wii logos on them

good way to know the difference in them I guess.

Well, my GF's parents are in town visiting, and apparently her 67 year old dad spent most of the afternoon playing golf. He says he's going to buy one. He said it beats freezing himself and having sore feet.

Just got my wii a coupel days ago. Are there any sites that have good reviews of gamecube games? I mainly just got the starwars/macross and zelda on mine but went into a couple local gamestop type places and they have almost their entire GC collection for $19 and less on new titles. (Except for some mario tennis game that was still a $44 used).

As far as the zelda line goes, I have the 4 game bonus disc and WW, is that all the non-portable titles; excluding the newest one of course.

It's worth $44 used. Seriously.

Midway has released a fact sheet for the Wii incarnation of their latest Mortal Kombat title, Armageddon. In this latest edition to the extremely successful arcade fighting series, players will be able to fight with the most complete roster ever, including more than 60 fighters from the entire Mortal Kombat universe (past, present and future). Gamers will also get a unique Kreate-A-Fighter mode and Kreate-A-Fatality mode, plus a brand new Konquest mode and Endurance Mode.

I got the battlion tactics, a rpg called fire emblem and one of the army men games new and walked out spending under $45. The new Zelda and one other were over $19 new, all other news were $15-19 and the used were 12 and less. Need to find a review site and check up on some more of the titles and go shopping before they run out of supply.

You did well with Fire Emblem... one of my favorite GameCube games.

Here are some suggestions I wrote up a while back:
(some are games I liked, some are popular games that I didn't like)

Fire Emblem (http://www.gamespot.com/gamecube/strate...heblueflame/index.html?q=fire%20emblem ) - Great tactical RPG (like Final Fantasy Tactics, Gladius, etc). Only RPG I've ever played where if a character dies in battle, he's dead for good. There's 30+ characters you can acquire along the way and at any given battle you can use at most 15 or so, but you do try to focus on leveling up a certain group of characters so you have to be really careful not to lose your good guys. You can always start over at the beginning of the battle, but battles average about an hour apiece. There's 29 battles, and it took me 24 hours to beat on easy mode (which was way too easy, I don't recommend it, I've been meaning to go back and beat it on normal, then maybe hard). Only thing is, if you like all the cutscenes and crap in Final Fantasy games you might not like the old school unanimated text cutscenes in Fire Emblem.

Mario Power Tennis (http://www.gamespot.com/gamecube/sports...is/index.html?q=mario%20power%20tennis ) - Most FUN I've ever had playing a tennis video game. Best as a multiplayer game, but the single player mode is not so bad either (and can be challenging). If you rent it you'll probably want to buy it. Great, faced-paced action.

Mario Super Strikers (http://www.gamespot.com/gamecube/sports.../index.html?q=mario%20super%20strikers ) - Not quite as good as Mario Power Tennis, but it's another great fast-paced multiplayer game (soccer).

Mario Kart: Double Dash (http://www.gamespot.com/gamecube/drivin...ex.html?q=mario%20kart%20double%20dash ) - Don't think I really need to say anything about this.

The Legend of Zelda: Windwaker (http://www.gamespot.com/gamecube/advent...html?q=legend%20of%20zelda%20windwaker ) - Shouldn't need to say anything about this either.

Paper Mario (http://www.gamespot.com/gamecube/rpg/papermario2/index.html) - Never played this actually, but it's supposed to be good. It's an RPG by the same guys who do the Fire Emblem series and the Nintendo Wars (known for Advance Wars in the US) series, which are two of my favorites. I think I'll probably pick this one up.

Metroid Prime (http://www.gamespot.com/gamecube/action/metroidprime/index.html) - I actually hate this game, but it got great reviews. I hate it for two reasons - I don't like futuristic FPSes, and I don't like console FPSes. Not sure why I bought it knowing those two things.

Super Monkey Ball/SMB 2 (http://www.gamespot.com/gamecube/action/supermonkeyball2/index.html) - Good "party game" - lots of minigames. The wife didn't really like it and I got bored of it.

F-Zero GX (http://www.gamespot.com/gamecube/driving/fzero/index.html?q=fzero%20gx) - F-Zero was my favorite racing game on the SNES. This one is 3D and even faster-paced that the original. I picked it up for about $5 at GameStop - you really can't go wrong with that.

Super Smash Bros. Melee (http://www.gamespot.com/gamecube/action/supersmashbrosmelee/index.html) - I have no idea why I bought this, because I hate fighting games. I guess because it was hugely popular and I thought I might like it anyway. Oh well.

Outlaw Golf (http://www.gamespot.com/gamecube/sports/outlawgolf/index.html?q=outlaw%20golf) - Screw Tiger Woods, this is the only golf game you should buy for any system (well, Outlaw Golf 2 for Xbox and PS2 is even better, but the bastards didn't release it on the Gamecube). Great, fun game. Tip - use the RIGHT analog stick to swing, not the left. I find that to be much easier.

Can someone help a Wii noob and save me from scrolling through all 2000 posts to see if this has been answered before? IGN and Nintendo.com weren't much help with this, so....Since I've never actually seen a Wii in stock at the store (or any controllers for that matter), I'm wondering:

1. how many remotes and nunchucks come with the Wii?

2. how many remotes should I get to take full advantage of multiplayer? (I'm assuming I would need 4 total, right?)

3. do I need a nunchuck for each remote?

TIA.

1. 1 of each

2. Hard to define. If you want 4 players at a time, you'll need 4 remotes. Except for bowling, where you could have 4 players with one remote, since only one is needed at a time.

3. Depends on the game. Wii Tennis is a remote-only game, no nunchuk required. Madden requires nunchuks, so if you want 4 players in that game, you'd need 4 of each. I currently have 3 remotes and 2 nunchuks, and have not needed more (another remote for tennis might be nice, but I'm holding out for WiiPlay).
