I think the ps4 will probaly just be slightly less powerful than a gaming laptop, online will be taken to the next level (no lagging) better match making, graphics in HD and 3d, I think ps4 might incoprate some sort of kinect like features

I like the controller but it looks cheap and flimsy. Hopefully someone makes a nicer quality one that's usable on PC, as I think I might prefer it over the 360 controller. Guess we'll have to see how the next Xbox controller turns out, hopefully they do an evolved version like Sony did. They don't need to overhaul it just make some improvements here and there.

Really went out on a limb there Nostradamus.

The only part of that Sony didn't openly state is the "no lag" which they don't really even have much control over, and in fact are likely going to make it worse with their background downloading (yeah, downloading the game while you try to play it and it probably requiring an always on connection, I'm sure that's not going to cause any problems, can't wait til every game comes with a Diablo 3 and Sim City 5 launch).

Sorry that comes off really harsh. I'm just poking fun at your predictions, not being critical (that part is directed at those games and the trend in gaming towards that).

It's more likely they will dedicate specific hardware to do those functions and limit developers to a little bit less ram and CPU than what is actually available.

What type of graphics would be consider'd mind blowing in the future, or in other words whats the word on the street, that caters to the next leap of gaming?

As for game-play since we have motion controls=Wands an whole body detections, what will be the next big step in enhancing the experince? In other words my cousin once told me when he went to disney land (long time ago) the first shrek movie was in 3-d an when shrek sneezed there was a water jet in the chair in front of you that splattered water in your face, he said he thought he really got sneezed on, and when there was a earthquake like scene the chair vibrated an rocked slightly back an fourth giving more feeling an depth to the movie.

Now just by thinking of that, could there be other implimations the home counsles can heighten the game play using minor add ins to the game? Not saying put in a water gun into something like the Ps4, but it can be a stepping stone in whats the next big thing to add in a home counsle or a add in feature like a chair that wire-lessly is in tune with whats happening in the game that can vibrate, have slight nature-like attrbutes (Gets warm/cold has maybe some slight spray of water, or different fregrences to match the scene) . Because the Ps4 or what ever glases thing, looks crappy...

no matter what, theres margin of distraction when you ware these^ looking up an down vision will show, unless its like goggles that are strap, than maybe.

An too many people are getting hurt playing the kinect move, theres like 50 videos of someone getting decked or near Ko'd by standing to close to the other or not paying attention. It also looks ridiculous... I've seen people playing regular games on it an literaly sweating bullets just flapping there arms in confusion, lol

I would like to see some better graphics=art styles, sharper counter reality an so on, I think the wands are better than whole body detection because it gives you a better grasping of the game instead of let-ing the mind float all over the place... doing the hoki poki an turn your self around...lol having that type of game play will increase the amount of people who sleep walk. XD XD

But just was wondering what would be the next big thing in gaming.

I don't think you understood what I was saying. That in no way does anything about your internet bandwidth and that's going to be the bottleneck.

Persistence is a bigger problem than an always-on that's just for DRM. Well, a combination of persistence in the game and somebody being a little stingy when it comes to getting enough servers for launch day. As a DRM its generally just an inconvenience when you don't have a connection or when you have a spotty connection, but shouldn't affect a launch day or a streaming situation. I wouldn't worry about it too much since Sony has so far stated that there won't be an always-on type DRM. The game streaming while it installs in the background will probably end up with some kind of preload, maybe something similar to what WoW does for updates, with launch day (or launch week) periods perhaps requiring a more significant preload before you start playing. Its really the only thing I'm skeptical about so far. Anybody else remember when M$ told us GfW games would install in the background while we started playing? Only happened with one game that everybody had long forgotten about when it finally came around.

No matter what problems the PS3 had, nothing compares to the 360's RRoD.

I'd imagine have your CC and personal info stolen and forever floating somewhere out there through the PSN debacle would come pretty damn close...

No kidding

The 360 problems sucked, but IMO they did a decent job at trying to make it right. I only had to change one out and it was a pretty painless process. I've had much bigger issues getting service for more "reliable" products.

Ya, I sent mine in and got another one a couple days later.

Ok...? Would you like a cookie?

Yeah...I would actually.

Conveniently ignoring the millions of broken 360s that had no warranty and had to be replaced out of pocket but complaining about psn hack that I haven't actually seen anyone negatively affected by personally. I know 5 people who went through at least one Xbox but still have their first ps3 and lost nothing during the psn outage/hack. I would say that Microsoft cost them more money.

I was one one of those people. It cost me nothing but inconvenience and aggravation for a week, much like having PSN down for a month plus?

MS paid for shipping and replaced the system within a seven days, it still works fine to this day.

I ended up buying another for HDMI, mainly, which was actually more frustrating. I gave the old unit to my brother.

Luckily you were under warranty. A few of my friends were told they were SOL so they had to buy a new system.

My fat, white 360 still works. It did RRoD on me, but the x-clamp mod actually worked, and the most surprising part is that it kept. Most systems will eventually fail again. My mom's bought two extra 360s because the first white one died and the replacement black (non-slim) died.

Every single person I knew in person has had to replace their Xbox at least once due to RROD (one person went through 6). None of them own a 360 anymore and none of them will ever buy a MS console again (myself included, I went through 2 360's and sold it after getting back the last time).

I was able to trade the fat old white 360 to Gamestop for the new slim before it finally died. It was showing symptoms.. just caught a break when it booted up at the store.

I immediately cancelled my card and got a new one, only 3 business days of disappointment, but I've had friends that have repeatedly needed to send their console in for repairs, probably totaling up to several weeks of time without a box. One mistake is fine, several is just terrible. I personally didn't comfortable buying a 360 myself until they redesigned the entire system only a mere 5 years later.

Well, my CC info was there...nobody got it. How bout that?

And I have two 360's that never died. What's your point? Also I gave a white xbox (a 20gb white original) to my little bro who still plays it to this day (hasn't needed repairs or exhibited issues).

Yeah...I would actually.

Just like conveniently ignoring those that were affected by the PSN debacle? Only difference being that you can't pinpoint it was the PSN issue that caused your CC to be used fraudulently.

MS extended the warranty to 3 years for anyone that bought problematic consoles. You act as though they did nothing.

EDIT:

I also had to return my launch PS3 because of the annoying whine exhibited while watching DVD's. Hell you can google "ps3 whine" and still find lots of results, some as late as 2012. But I gave it another shot and have a 80gb console that has been working fine for years.

Exactly and for all you who say "they extended the warrabty" that took years to do. For literally years the consoles broke and they were out of warranty.

It didn't even take 2 years. Are you just blabbing to blab? There was ~8mo period at most (if you had launch day consoles) where you could have been outside of your 1 year warranty, and that's if you had an issue.
