Gamestop says interest in PS4 is 2:1 compared to Xbox One.

I read it on NeoGAF but I can't find the thread lol.

I'd love to see what it was the week the few days after E3. It was probably 5:1.

No matter what anyone says, the retraction of DRM was done because the PS4 without DRM had such a huge sales potential compared to the Xbox.

However, if you read further they investigate how the hUMA will help games if they can do it with the new consoles.

For the record Carmack said they were close, not the same.

Correct and we don't know what he was even basing his comparison on. If it was purely specs (which I would not be surprised), then I see how he could jump to that conclusion early on. He'd have a little more credibility from me if id was working on a cross platform (ps4 and X1) at the time of his statement.

I'm so pissed. I might lose my PS4 preorder. I preordered it through Walmart. My bank called me earlier this week saying that my credit card was compromised and they canceled it and sent me a new one. I changed all of my recurring bills over to my new card, but now there doesn't seem to be a way to change my Walmart.com PS4 preorder's billing details. I've filled out their online help form *twice* - no response. I've called them and waited on hold for 30+ minutes *twice* and they disconnected me.

The only online option is to cancel the order. If I cancel, I lose it. DAMNIT!!!!!! I HATE WALMART. At the time of ordering (June 28th), Amazon, Best Buy, and Gamestop were sold out...

Contact your bank about it maybe?

So..let me get this straight. You couldn't just tell them you had a new card you wanted to put on record and remove the old one? I've done that before...

Agreed, not sure why you can't just continue trying to call. Do they have chat support? You haven't been told no yet, just haven't gotten a response. You've got 2+ months to get this figured out. No sense in being hasty and canceling the order.

Maybe go in the local store and see if they can transfer your pre order to another card ?

Have you received the new card in the mail ? If you have it, then all your purchases should be able to go on there. Call the number on the back of the card and explain what happened. They should be able to transfer it over.

I'm paying cash for the games I pre ordered but I kept the system on my best buy card.

The funny thing is best buy sent me a second card because apparently they were bought by capital one. When I called to check what happened they said I still had my pre order on my new card which had the higher spending limit anyway. So I basically have two store cards with different limits. I'm only using one though.

Update and Resolution:

Called my bank. They said since the merchant (AKA, Walmart.com) already received an authorization code, the bank can transfer the debit onto my new card, if and only if the merchant calls the bank to do so (e.g. after the transaction gets declined). I called Walmart.com and notified them of this; they said they're not able to accommodate this request. Let's face it - Walmart's customer service is complete crap. Maybe they can fix this situation, but they won't.

Then I started looking at my options. Could I preorder somewhere else and get the console close to the release date? Well then I came across this article. I ran to my car and took off to my local Walmart. The way it works is they have these preorder labels that you grab from the "PS4 Preorder Stand," which is basically like a big billboard of PS4 advertising and propaganda. Well, unless they had a bunch that they didn't put out there in plain sight, I grabbed the last one. I paid my 10% down and now I can show up on launch day, pay the rest of the balance, and leave happy. Now I'm cancelling my Walmart.com order and all is fine. I used a different bank's credit card this time, and if there's any problem by the time I need to pick it up, I can use any payment method to satisfy the balance.

Yay

glad you got it resolved.

that is odd that you couldn't just call walmart.com and change payment to a different card.

You're insinuating that their employees are productive and have common sense. What the hell is wrong with you?

LOL...well this would be a problem for Amazon as well since it's automated, but I do believe they would have been able to transfer the card on file quite easily. At least you'll get one anyway.

Again this is why I like to do it locally. I put down $100 at gamestop, pay it off over time (I put something like $50 a week on it until it was paid)and just come get it when it's out. I did this for the XB1 as well.

Yes, you can change your payment method on Amazon quite easily for pre-orders. However, the one thing to keep in mind that adjusting your payment method, which includes using a gift card, will resubmit your order. That does not mean that you will lose any out-of-stock items, but it will mess up any time-sensitive things such as free Release-Day Delivery.

It almost sounds like Sony is laying the groundwork to make known that they won't have enough units for pre-orders. The comment about pre-orders for the console being as high as they ever have is just a product of the industry now, pre-orders are part and parcel with consoles and games. It's way more accepted, and offered by more companies, than 7-8 years ago.

Are there any retailers offering first-come first-serve consoles on release this go-round? Seems like anybody and everybody are offering pre-orders.

I believe retailers will order as many as they are allowed to especially to cover the number of pre orders they have. If they gave them out first come first serve then pre ordering wouldn't make sense. I know I would be pissed if my pre order was sold to someone else. Shady places could do it for sales. I hope best buy doesn't do that to me.

Sony sent out a memo to all retailers with their allocation number. Each retailer knows how many they are getting already, then they divy it up between their stores so each store knows how many they are getting. I'd guess that every system to be released on day one is sold out already in many areas due to pre-ordering. The problem is that some retailers just keep taking pre-order deposits because it's free money, without being able to guarantee the customer to have a system.

I know this, I was asking if there were any stores that were keeping an allotment for walk-ins or not doing pre-orders at all. As in, lines forming at the door a week in advance and them handing out numbers for the amount of systems they have in stock.

Your suggestion could boost sales. But being as they want to cover the preorders everywhere and that the article states demand is very high but they will supply as much as they can, I think every store does the same thing, at least the big retailers. I've never seen a case where they have to hand out tickets a week ahead, at least not in my area.

What is more important is that stores should not keep taking pre orders after they have reached the amount allowed. I have a feeling Wal-Mart would do such a thing.

They are supposed to keep track of their numbers but often places like Walmart with clueless employees working electronics don't follow the right procedures. I expect places like GameStop, amazon, and toys r us to be better at this because they keep a closer eye on pre-sale numbers vs allocation.
