From what I understand, that was Sony's initial plan (4 Steamroller cores @ 3.2Ghz), but my guess is that AMD could not 100% promise core availability in 2013, meanwhile Jaguar is certain to hit this year. Already there are some rumors that Steamroller might slip into 2014.

I just Googled "Sony PS4 Steamroller" and found this article which correctly references the amount of TFLOPs currently planned for the PS4 (1.843) and this is back in mid-2012: http://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1...adeon-hd-7970-gpu-steamroller-cpu-16gb-flash/

So I'd assume that there was some truth to wanting to use Steamroller cores, but the system wouldn't have met holiday deadlines (shipping a new console in the US in Spring is a death sentence when your competition is most likely shipping by Black Friday in November).

Wonder if ill wait a year or so to get it like I did ps3. I just hate getting stuck with the older shit as far as redesigns go. It seems to be a newer trend starting with the ps1 but really taking off with with the ps2. I think there was an snes redesign fwiw. I dunno.

Also, I wonder if gta v is gonna be a port or designed from the ground up for ps4. I might get a ps4 upon release just for that game.

GTA V is coming out in September which is at least two months before the PS4 comes out. With how long Rockstar works on their GTA games, I don't expect it to be on PS4 any time soon.

Also yes the SNES was redesigned as was the Genesis and original NES in their lifetimes. Nothing new.

Don't hold your breath. While GTA V will probably have the largest budget of any game ever made, most of that money was probably spent generating assets at PS3/360 quality level, and not of the PS4. And since they haven't even officially announced a PC version, there's little hope of higher quality assets lurking around.

Speaking of GTA, I wonder if they'll finally get around to doing an HD remake of the the GTA3 Trilogy (III, Vice City, San Andreas) with the new consoles. Especially since they already have working x86 code from the PC versions, it would probably be easier to do it now than it was in the current gen.

Well with the PS3, the launch version had BC, more USB ports, and some other crap I can't remember. Sure it was bigger, but I'd rather have BC.

For the PS4, I don't know if the launch model will have anything they cut out of following models.

I'll probably get a PS4 at launch just because I throw my money at video games.

Well ps3 only now has a good strive, an soon it will be over when the ps4 comes around, which is why wii sales stoped a bit, why would they by yesterdays tech when wii u is here an now? The ps3 actually sucked in sales when it first came out, in fact X360 an Ps3 in the beggining "Combined" dident amount up to the wii's sales. An they are still behind the over-all sales in terms last gens comp.

They both are behind nintendo by 20 million units, thats still a crazy lead, so why bother comparing ps3 to wii u? Thats like saying there psp is better than the wii u's controller when they havent even came close to matching the sales be even 3/5ths...

I was merely just confused when people were insulting nintendo an said the wii u is dead, lol an ps3 sold more then wii u on black friday. Reguardless of the sales for wii u, ps3 is suppose to be in competition with wii, not wii u (which its still sold less). Not to mention the wii u sold more than the wii by 30 million $$$, so I dont get how the ps3 which cost less now than the wii u "now" sold better.

In any case, I can see Ps4 possibly selling well, but was just wondering by how much more compared to the ps3's succsess?

I will wait at least until 2014 to decide which next generation console to buy. If the new games uses Move technology the way I want it, I will definitely buy it. I really want to see a game like Samurai Shodown that can be played with move controllers.

Well the way graphics are going, I guess there isint going to be a huge leap like before so as you said only the die hards will go for slightly better graphics an brag, but I'm sure even the "parents" lol will most likely seek out whats fresh, I mean that was 7 years in the shade, possibly it could stretch to 8-9 years as quite well, but as soon as the ps4 comes out, it will.. like the wii, be in its stage of diminish.

Plus I'm totally intrested in what the Ps4 has to offer.

Nintendo just dident sell as much as they wanted, that dident mean they dident sell well, they are on a well placed succsess rate at the moment in terms price an how much units they are pushing out will have a awesome momentum once popular titles come out, that alone shows that no one really is hieghtened by third party games an are more intrested in the O.N=Original Nintendo first party games...proof? 3ds is highly succsessful still, while without sonys other pockets, the vita could have bankrupted them.

In terms revanue the wii u already made profits, the vita dident, the x360 an ps3 dont cost as much as the wii u does, let alone they are only striving because there next gen counsle is still in the fog, when the x720 or what ever is on line-up details, games, cost, an release date is shown to be near releasing time, the x360 wont sell that much, that goes the same for the ps3 vs ps4. Yet being so far away people want whats here now, so the ps3 an x360 will still sell fairly well.

Comparing units that dont have the same cost amount is absurd, for the wii u is more expensive then what the wii was, an still in terms N vs X vs S, nintendo is still beating the last gen race. Dont even bother comparing something which isint in its catagorie, because wii is ahead of the ps3 by a mile, 20 mill---e---on thats 20 million units, do you know how much 20 million wiis would look like in a ware-house?

Nintendo needs a reality check to realize they shouldn't rely so heavily on Miyamoto or whatever his name is. They need to stop trying to reinvent the wheel imo.
More realistically, i think Nintendo should do a Sega and become a software supplier to other platforms. They make good games, that's about it these days.
