to be honest, i think 360 had a better launch than the current ones are. i think a lot had to do with it being the only "next gen" console at it's time though. cod2, kameo, pdz, pgr3, nfs:mw ... all of those games owned hard (at the time, although i was personally disappointed with pdz i know a lot of people who loved it). but i think this current launch has great games too, it's just not as exciting to me since many of the games are multiplatform.
The 360 was a phenomenal system when it launched for sure. It was more powerful than a good chunk of gaming PCs at the time. It really revolutionized online gaming.
This time around I think both devs and publishers seem really leery of creating new software for the 8th gen. I feel that even the 3DS has had a very slow software rollout especially now that it's two years old. Vita ad Wii U are beyond pathetic. There just isn't the enthusiasm this time. Everyone wants to develop for the current gen but complains about the hardware restraints.
