I picked up Last of Us for PS3 when it came out but never got around to playing it.. So I'm picking up the PS4 version and offloading the PS3 version for a pittance.

I picked it up but wasn't able to get into it. The story didn't suck you in immediately and the gameplay was mediocre if I was being generous. I will likely pick it up when it is free on PS+ in the future for PS4 and try to force my way through it.

So I was told today when I was exchanging an XB1 controller that all the new PS4 controllers are using a new rubber compound on the analog sticks that doesn't break down like before. That's good news but how do we tell the difference? What I mean is if I buy one how do I confirm I have the new one and not the old one? The Sony rep didn't indicate that I guess(nobody seemed to know), just that they have changed the rubber material.

It could either be a lie/ruse to gain my confidence or something they slipped in under the radar without telling anyone. I do remember reading somewhere that a few ratailers in Europe couldn't get controllers in stock and they were waiting for Sony to produce more. Maybe that's where this idea came from I dunno. Has anyone heard anything about this? I'm considering getting some analog stick covers for them to just prevent them from wearing at all.

That's true, but the same can be said for gta v or any other game you have played before. It didn't take me long to finish the last of us but I'd like to see the improvements they made in graphics and it comes with the second episode which I haven't played yet.

I don't have anywhere I would rent it but if I could get it cheaper I will. I wish the trade in value of the ps3 version was more than $10 at best buy.

Not really. I mean, GTA has a vast open world with hundreds of little side missions and little goof around stuff to play with. Heck you can spend hours just driving around and exploring.
The Last of Us is nothing like that. It's more like an old RPG: the narrative is why you play, and it has very linear, controlled progression.

Usually I rarely ever replay a game once I've finished it. For some reason the last of us is an exception. I guess I didn't really get into the story as much the last time. There are some times like the one in the basement that are pretty tense. At the same time I felt like the game should have been longer and covered more characters.

I do play some games that have different quest outcomes and storylines depending on your choices again. I occasionally play games again that have new game plus, but rarely play games through again that only have one outcome.

Can you get the free games even though you don't have the console? I'm thinking of subscribing (since those can be had dirt cheap with the right deals) so that when i eventually buy the console I'll have a few starting games to play with.

That's what I did every month until I bought a PS4, using the Android app. Works like a charm

Infamous is one gorgeous looking game. Though there seems to be fewer types of side quests than there were in the first two. Maybe I'm not far enough into it yet.

There really isn't that much to do to be honest and a lot of them are just repetitive annoyances to get a trophy.

Exactly, the side quests were allowed the same for every area. Only reason why I did them all was because combat was so damn fun.

Yes, you can sign into sony's store from any browser and "buy" the games when they're free. You can then download them whenever you get the console.

You can't activate a PS+ subscription without a Sony console.

:hmm: Do you have to just activate it from a console, or do you have to have a console registered to that account too? My thought is, if he buys a sub card, could he ask a friend to log into their machine so he could activate his sub and be okay? Since you can use multiple profiles on these consoles I assume so, but I also assumed you could buy PSN+ whenever you wanted so I don't know anymore.

I'm not sure how his account would be tied to a friend's system or if it will if he activates it there. I've heard people doing this but I never tried it myself.

Yeah, I don't think he'd have a problem either. Obviously he'll be able to log into the same account from any Sony console regardless, I just didn't know if anything else would happen

I the first time I signed in on my PS4 it specifically asked me if I wanted to make this my primary console. As long as you hit no you should be fine. Primary console (which is not changeable (but I assume you can but it's a hassle)) just affects whether or not your PSN stuff can be played without you being logged in.

In the PS4 settings, click PSN then select activate as your primary PS4. You can activate and deactivate at will. You can also restore licenses in the same menu. Restore licenses will log into PSN and download all the licenses for gall the items that you have downloaded so you can access that content.

So I was able to fix my Trophy syncing issue last night and once again today it broke. Put another 3 hours into Strider just to find that I will probably have to delete my profile once again from the PS4. That fixed it last time, but also reset all of my progress. This has to be one of the biggest frustrations besides the defective controllers.

Its that easy to change it? The question block on mine in November implied that it was a permanent option once selected. I assumed that there has to be a way to change it for warranty swaps and such, just didn't think it as that easy.

I suppose it must be if you happen to get a replaced console through warranty you would need to do that unless it was completely broken. Either way the new console would need to be the primary.

It seems the noise was my cupboard vibrating... Especially with a DVD inside. But even the fan alone was causing an "echo" using the cupboard as an "amplifier". I put a cushion under the PS4 and it is relatively quiet now. Still louder than my PS3 Slim (and waaay louder than my dead silent PC), but it's not that bad anymore.

Anyone else's PS4 get a little bit warm after a few hours of use? Like I know it's supposed to get warm but mine's to the point where it's bordering warm and hot.

I have it set on top of a DVD player and around 3 inches of space around the PS4 before it hits an object.

Nope, the only area it's warm is the air coming out the back, the bottom under the DVD slot gets a little warm but that's about it. Mine is standing on its side in the open, my TV cable box is in a tight space roughly the same as what you described and my cable box has reset itself a few times and when I felt the top of it, it was almost like putting my hand over a stove element while it's on. The ambient air temperature increases in that space over time not allowing the unit to keep cool.
