I still don't think the change came because they care for their customers, it's because they saw the massive crater where their profits would be.

If anything, this shows that voting with your wallet can actually work. Hopefully it's not too late for them.

Haha.

Doesn't change anything for me though. I don't want a kinect, period. If they offer me the console sans kinect, at the price point of the PS4, I buy it. Plain and simple

As of now, I still am going PS4 only

There is no way they change that. They are relying on it being there for the games.

Why does "no resale" matter to you? The previous system MS proposed also had "no resale." The fact that they've reintroduced resale for one group of consumers and you're bummed that it might not include you... that's just odd. Everything else; downloading games, running discless, that all seems like it should be relatively hassle-free and convenient for you.

I think you misunderstood my post. The previously announced system has the 'inconveniences' of no resale and online requirements. These weren't things that bothered me, and I was willing to give them up. Now, however, I am forced to disc swap or use bandwidth to download every game. I currently don't have a bandwidth cap, but Comcast may reinstate it. And @250gb a month, I will have to watch what how many games I download and possibly alter my streaming habits. I average over 500gb a month currently, but I do a lot of broadcasting a stream, watching streams, watching Netflix, and downloading games that release. If 5 PC games come out and 5 Xbox Games, that is quite a lot of data I have to download.

With the previous method, this was alleviated at the expense of things not mattering to me. My internet is stable and I don't resell games. This also punishes people with slower connections and absurd datacaps (like in AUS and the EU) and forces them to have to use the discs as we currently do, which is archaic coming from PCs.

He has to bring the discs! Wahhhh.

Except I was planning on doing digital distribution for everything. No discs to bring with. Instead of having my cake and eating it too, I now have to pick.

And why wouldn't that still work?

They can't do that if it is available offline, then two people could be playing at once. That was the original point of this whole check in every 24 hours thing.

At least someone gets it.

Roaming. Microsoft stated that with the (now dead model) if I went to someone's house with an X1, I could login with my gamertag and have fully access to all of my games immediately to play there.

Full access to all of your games after they were downloaded to the new Xbox. Which takes, what, a couple hours? If your friends had DSL, you could walk to the moon and back in the time it would take to download a game.

W/o the required internet, the Kinect is really a non issue. Maybe the price will be, but...

With them having already stated every Kinect feature and functionality can be turned off, there is really no reason to bitch about it other than it increasing the price of the console. But, I'm sure some people will still find a way.

I get it, it's just that you can do the exact same thing if you buy it on Live, or you have to bring the discs if you buy physical. If you buy all your games on Live, i.e. all digital, why won't it work just the same?

You act like the price difference of $100 is like nothing. I wipe my ass with $100 bills after I drive my Ferrari but I'm not going to give another $100 to MS that I don't have to

I'm fairly certain you will not be able to do that. If they have an offline mode then multiple people could be playing it in multiple places at once which is why the 24 hour check existed in the first place.

And also, baby smacker - Comcast doesn't have that 250 GB cap currently. It's been suspended for the last 6 months plus so that is a non issue that you are making an issue

You would still have to download them to that console. PS3 is like that for digital games.

Simple solution is to buy games digital.

This sucks. I was really looking forward to some of the features that they enabled. You'd think they could have come up with a solution that would allow them to keep the features. Like a key that registers to your account to enable all the sharing and full installs. Then just make a web interface to drop the key from your account and go back to disc based authentication. They could have made everyone happy. Instead with go backwards. :\

Isn't that how it works currently? If I hope online and sign into my account on your 360, can't we play my games? I haven't done so recently with a 360, but I know that's at least how the PS3 works.

You don't have to give MS any money. Or Sony. Or any other company. You don't have to give Ferrari any of your money either. However, choose to spend way more on a car than you have to, because unless you have the FXX you get all that performance from a Vette that costs half of what you paid, but you won't spend an extra $100 to get a Kinect.

Yep, I am. That is the single reason I modded my 360. That was a feature I was looking forward to and they are removing it because a bunch of troglodytes cry about change.

So your only reason is a lame "OMG I NEED TO GET MY LAZY ASS UP OFF THE COUCH AND PUT A 1OZ DISC IN THE TRAY!!!!"

Sucks to be you I guess.

They suspended it longer than 6 months ago, but are testing a new datacap of whatever in certain areas currently. If you think the datacap is going away for good, you're a moron. And a lot of EU and AUS have much lower datacaps. So, this isn't a non issue for quite a lot of people.

AND I love how I am called out for "making a non issue and issue" about datacaps that are happening but no haters get called out for the "omg what if Xbox Live shuts off in 8 years?"... yeah.

At least now if I keep my console and decide...hey I wanna go back and play Killer Instinct, I can without it saying "server error"

Wait, so EVERY xbox one game needs to be authenticated with a server in order to play? Even if you don't copy it to the HDD? Why? That's not good. Not good at all, especially if you want to gift it to someone from a different country or if you don't have internet access. I had no idea but, if true, this sucks.

You guys can thank me later. And all it took was one phone call

My reason is there is already a better way to do that. If TVs all of the sudden stopped having remotes again, people would have a fit. I have seamlessly switched between PC games without need a disc for like 10 years. MS was putting that feature on the Xbox One, and I welcomed it. Now, that feature is gone or inconvenient to obtain.

That is quite a significant difference.

I still don't care though. As long as they think they can force Kinect down our throats, they can pound sand.

I have zero use for Kinect and there is absolutely NO REASON why they can't offer the system without it
