It's still nowhere as clear as an actual headset. Plus it picks up all the background noise which is annoying.

I agree, that's why I when I said "Nothing is as good as the voice chat in the party system on the One when it works". I was meaning the party chat with the headset on XB1 is better than any other console option.

For those that have both systems, how do you like the One compared to the PS4?

I have a PS4 but I've been considering trying to trade it locally for an Xbox. I got KZ, COD, and Madden from the Amazon B2G1 sale. The only one I have left is Madden and I've only been playing it occasionally. It seems I would get more play out of Forza and KI, at least at the moment.

Do you have more friends on the xbox side compared to the playstation side? Do you prefer one controller over the other? Which exclusives excite you more. Take all these into consideration when deciding what to do.

It's the same as the PS4 to me when using quality headsets and mics. A friend of mine is using a set of Sony MDR-7520 headphones with a ModMic from Antlion. It's a high end attachable boom mic for headphones. I have a Sennheiser PC360 headset. The audio quality from the PS4 is very good. No static, no feedback.

There's no adapters for the XB1 yet so I cannot use my Sennheisers with it. The headset they give you in the box is not very high quality compared to what I am used to, but for free I don't expect it to be.

Why did you buy both consoles?
I mean, I get that people want the best of both worlds.... but buy both and not even play one of them, just sell it and get your money back. Or just take it back, Best Buy I know gives you 30 days to return things.

i won the ps4, and got x1 (which is the one i really wanted if i had to only pick 1) for my birthday, so i spent $0 on the new consoles

and i know i'll eventually want to play more ps4 games so might as well keep it. i'm not strap for cash and didn't need the spare $600 or so i coulda gotten from it if i sold it. plus, knack was fun. resogun is fun too but nothing that i always have an urge to play.

I guess that must make a huge difference, because when I used the stock headset on my xbox and checked out the voice chat on a friends ps4, the quality of the xbox chat was way better. I even saw a couple gaming sites do comparisions and even they said the XB1's chat quality was way better.

It's all dependent on the equipment available to use. I have an adapter for my headset and my friend uses the same type of adapter. The PS4 is using a standard 3 pole smartphone style connection through the wireless of the controller (I think it's bluetooth?) to the system. The XB1 is using a digital connector so there is less interference and potential signal degridation for sure. With high quality headsets and mics the difference is going to be reduced.

The real bonus for the XB1 though is potentially you can use those surround headsets right through the controller. That's a lot better IMO than using a box hooked up to the optical out. I think it'll be a much easier setup and a cleaner look.

Yeah, I noticed that the turtle beaches that are coming in February say they are completely wireless to the console, so that will be nice.

I have a pair of wireless Turtle Beach headphones with built-in mic that let you plug into the 360 controller to do voice chat. Unfortunately, the wireless tech is IR so now when I turn on the x1, the Kinect spams the room with IR and it creates interference on the headphones

How do you go to the party chat? Purebeast said he made a party but still heard the other guy. Is it supposed to be automatic?

Go into party chat app and there is an option to switch party chat on. That's how U get rid of pub sounds.

And sometimes U can't turn on party chat when Joining friends. Cold boot xbox or the party leader has to cold boot thiers. Did this all through. Trial and error.

so tonight i did the "work around" to not hear people talking while playing ranked matches on killer instinct. so i get in a party and turn party chat on, and it works - i can't hear the guy in the background. but now ... the sound is all dull and muted. microsoft turns the main volume down for you while in a party with party chat on.

That's just strange. I can't believe there is no setting to adjust volume of the party, or to prioritize. I'm sure they will get an update for it later. What happens if you use a headset is the volume adjustable then ?

not sure, the joytsick doesn't have a mic port on it. i mean i could turn my avr up more to make it louder, but that shouldn't be necessary. they should not be turning volume up and down for me, i should be controlling all that myself.

Well, ordered one from Amazon last night. It said it would take "1-2 days to process" so I thought I'd have a little bit of time to think about it. But this morning I already had an e-mail saying it shipped. Amazon is way too fast sometimes

Guess I'll be selling the PS4 soon. I'll pick one up again down the road, maybe next Christmas. The media features on the Xbox are what sold me. I feel like I'll at least get some use out of it, unlike the PS4 that is just sitting there waiting on games.

I wish either console had a killer game! I don't know what to get my sister/brother in law for christmas, if they had some killer games out it would make the X1 an easier decision. What I wouldn't do to be warped into the future when mass effect 4 is out.

Both consoles are really waiting on games. Some people are used to racing or sport games where you do the same thing over and over and over again. I don't think I'll touch my ps4 after I'm done all my games. That should be in a month or two.

I hate to say it, but this is true for me, too. I bought FFXIV and NiNoKuni at the PSN sale, and my PS3 has been getting absurd amounts of playtime as a result.

In terms of launch exclusives, I'm loving KI and DR3. KI is the game I play when I feel like having stupid fun; DR3 is the game I play when I feel like I want to be challenged and have a real experience.

So, is Kinect voice chat always on and working, assuming I didn't uncheck the option in settings?

In COD, I can see those with voice chat enabled have a microphone icon next to their gamertag in the players lists, but I never see one next to mine. Or are those just users with a lot of background noise and/or didn't calibrate their kinect well and/or are heavy mouth-breathers?

Just wondering cause I just noticed last night I've been hearing other player's reactions to my kills sometimes (if I'm close...I think?), and am now wondering if my rude, frustrated blurbs have been getting through to others...
