I only have like 4 Xbox one games but I think I'll order an external 1tb soon just so I can install every game without worrying about space. People have mentioned it must be usb 3.0 and some mentioned it should not be a backup plus or any of those types but I'm not sure. I've just researched it myself because I will get one and have come across posts where the Xbox did not recognize it and format it.

I don't think so. Unless, the external drive itself can manage the different partitions, the Xbox is likely to just format the entire physical drive.

This is what happens. I can't re-partition it manually without destroying the xbox contents because it's a format that is not standard. It's not NTFS, Fat32, HFS etc. It doesn't even use a MBR or GPT partition table.

Best idea IMO is get a USB 3.0 drive dock or enclosure. Then put any drive you want in it. Any standard SATA HDD will work in a drive dock and will be no problem for the XB1.

Newegg is selling the assassins creed bundle with a year of xbox live gold and a second controller for $350. A super sweet deal IMO

Got an Xbox One for Christmas. Hooked up my TiVo to the TV input. It works and all, but the quality is pretty crappy. It's noisy / grainy. Looks compressed almost. Is this common? Anything I can do to help it?

I think it depends on the box you have. My xfinity box from Comcast looks exactly the same as it would directly to the tv. I have heard some people notice a loss of quality with some boxes/services.

Interesting. I'm using the HDMI cable out of the box to go from the TiVo to the Xbox; maybe if I replace that with a better one it will improve.

I am in the same boat as cmdrdredd. My Comcast looks identical in quality to how it was before the Xbox One was plugged in. Could it be your box is reading the Xbox One as 720p and then it is being upscaled or something?

No, HDMI cables are all the same as long as they are certified to the same standard. A $5 mono price cable is the same as a $100 monster cable. It is probably a software issue with the XB1 itself. They are always working to make it more compatible with different and newer a/v equipment. Try opening a trouble ticket via your console if you have the option. Otherwise contact support via the website and provide the exact model of your TiVo etc.

Be certain that your box is outputting 1080p of the option is available and make sure your xb1 is set to 1080p as well. Lastly turn off any processing on your tv just to eliminate all the potential issues.

Its the correct resolution on both the TiVo and Xbox end of things. Processing is already turned off on my tv and it is properly calibrated. Shouldn't the Xbox just be accepting the digital signal and processing it as video? Why does what source box I have make a difference?

The software has to be able to recognize the box. It may be processing the signal as SD instead of HD for all we know.

Does your TiVo box have modes for 1080? I know most cable and satellite boxes sometimes default to 720 or other modes and have to be set to 1080. A family member's satellite box would always default to 720 or less each time it was turned off and we would have to explicitly set it to 1080 each time.

My dad's directv looked atrocious and was choppy when sent through the X1, that was the end of that.

Bought in on the new egg deal. Still waiting for it to ship. Anyone have a live gold trial they would be willing to part with? Want to grab the marvel Lego deal before it expires.

I think I have some 2-day trials lying around. PM me, and I'll send a code over, if I can find it.

The only exclusives I want to play on Xbox are the Forza games. I have no need for a Halo bundle. Sunset isn't my type of game either. I can see people wanting it for KI, but I'm not a fighting game type of person. I'm waiting for an excuse to buy one and the $329 almost had me picking one up. But $300+ just to play Forza is a little much, especially when I know I'll burn out on them in a week or so.

Yes $300 is a bit much for two games. One thing I can say is that even though it's not talked about much is that the force feedback triggers really do add a level of realism to the controls. But yeah I burned out on them in less than 3 weeks.

Forza horizon 2 is great but I only bought one because I had some crazy discounts at best buy. I'll mostly be buying exclusives on it and I use it as a dlna media device too.

I'm surprised Microsoft raised the price back up to $400 unless they are planning some other promotion. I doubt that many people are buying a console in January so they probably aren't missing out on a lot of sales but they better do something within the next few months. Dropping the price puts pressure on Sony so they shouldn't let up now.

They were doing great with the sale price. Glad I got mine with crazy discounts when it was on sale. I didnt think the price would go back up. I only got it for exclusives so I'm glad I didn't pay full price.

I have DirecTV, and I don't see any quality difference when routed through my Xbox.

I didn't see any quality picture wise when I ran my cable through it. It did have an issue with 5.1 sound being passed through so I removed the setup, but that was at launch and I'm told the issue was patched. I'm just lazy and don't really see the need to reattach everything.

Yeah, XB1 outsold the PS4 in November and probably December (I haven't seen if the numbers are out yet). People had over a week to buy an XB1 if they didn't get one for Christmas with gift cards they got so I don't think they will miss out on many sales in January. They'll let Sony outsell them again though unless they do more promotions soon though.

How long did the PSN outage last? The XBL outage was a couple hours, from what I saw...so one could capitalize on the lizard attack to argue XBL is still the better service...

I'm betting they'll internally claim to wait out all those muffins with tax returns to buy in desperation and at the full price.
