How long did the PSN outage last? The XBL outage was a couple hours, from what I saw...so one could capitalize on the lizard attack to argue XBL is still the better service...

Two days I believe. Sony security is horrible. They have been hacked several times over and over again. I still have my year of Xbox like I need to activate. I just don't play online on the Xbox as much.

DDOS does not mean hacked.

Its not specifically a hack but Sony has been intruded before and files were stolen, etc. They have some pretty bad security practices. Who stores passwords in a text file and to top it off it was named passwords lol.

Yeah, wasn't a few years ago that PSN had account information stolen, along with Sony's music service in, like, 6 different countries? That was the last major attack that resulted in compromised data that I can recall.

Yeah, but I was both meaning before that, and working on the assumption that Pictures was somehow operated separately from the music and gaming divisions (assumed that those two shared some level of interaction due to the closeness of their attacks).

Yeah, I get what you were doing. I'm unsure if there are some IT resources shared, but it does strike me as being a common problem Sony has (and Microsoft doesn't.) There's a reason Sony doesn't have my CC info, despite my owning a PS3. I don't trust them one bit.

I've never put my card info on either system. I usually buy the psn or Xbox live cards and activate them. I usually try and do this with anything requiring a card and if it does use a credit card not a debit or visa bank card.

MS should be ashamed of the MCC, I can not get any games. I can play the halo 5 beta though

I couldn't log into xbox live for the better part of 5-6 hours at least. I gave up trying after that and was able to get in later that evening or the next morning.

Anyone else get the message that read "thanks for being a supporter of Halo: Master Chief Collection. We have extended your Xbox Live Subscription at no charge". They gave me an extra month it said I think. Not a big deal but just curious if anyone else got this.

I haven't reinstalled the game since I bought it so I didn't see any message. Next time I'm on the xbox I'll check but I doubt that I got anything. I was on the trial live cards and haven't even activated my one year of xbox live yet which I got with the console.

Yeah, I got it. It's part of their apology package for the botched TMCC launch. It's why we're also getting ODST's campaign for free.

By the way, is anyone else in the Dashboard Preview beta? They're now using that to roll out a beta version of TMCC's online multiplayer for this weekend. You can't play with those not in the beta from Friday to Sunday, but I'm totally enrolling to see what they're up to.

Actually just after I posted that message I got the message on my Xbox one smart glass saying I got a free month of live. Now I can use that before activating my year card.

I have the Xbox One stereo headset and one of the ear pieces broke. I am looking for a cheap replacement, I was fine with the sound quality of the stereo headset. I do not mind buying used. I know you can use other headsets not made specifically for the One with the adapter that game with the stereo headset but I do not know the specifics. Anything to be aware of when looking for a different headset?

Tried calling microsoft? In the past they have been awesome about hardware replacements, even with obvious "user" caused issues.

Yeah it was out of warranty, I think they said 6 months.

Odd, usually Xbox was the first one to have the decent accessories. I'm still using the mic headset that came with the system.

I just found another XB1 stereo headset on ebay for 19 or best offer. It didnt come with the adapter but I dont need it so I offered 15(plus 5 shipping) and it was accepted. That is a great deal considering the headset that comes in the box costs that much or more

Isn't that adapter attached to the headset? I forget how it looks I haven't used mine much.
