And the developers still won't see the money. Bobby Kotick will just have bigger limos while the developers eat ramen.
Activision and EA are as evil or worse than RIAA, I hope this is the catalyst that finally undoes them.
Ok, thanks for clarifying. Can't blame me fully then for not knowing. I mean all the forums I go to have a deals thread for PSN and the 3DS/Wii U eShop but I pretty much never see an MS deal thread. I could only conclude that it didn't exists or from what it sounds like while it does exists it is pretty pathetic and might as well not overall lol.
Just to clarify, I haven't owned a 360 in years. After my launch one died and was replaced 3 times by MS for RROD's I got rid of it after they sent me the last "fixed" one. I never had a console die on me before or after that and I still have my launch systems for many generations.
If you don't have a 360 odds are you aren't paying attention to Xbox sales threads..
I do have a frustration with the way MS is spoken of in a lot of forums. I find myself defending MS to the point where I start to sound like a fan boy, when all I'm doing is pointing out fact from hate fiction. They fuck up all the time, in ways that make my head hurt, but for whatever reason people want to pile stuff on it that isn't the case. Like "MS will never have sales", or "MS is paying developers not to talk to Sony". The adding of FUD to them is pretty pointless and frustrating, and personally I think it distorts finding the real information. MS doesn't need help in listing the reasons why the new Xbox is shaping up to be a fuck up any more than Win8 does.
And the used game thing is a super fuck up.. they really should have split the physical disk from the digital version. Had they made this licensing stuff for digital only I doubt anyone would care. They could have migrated people to the new way of doing things (as sucky as that is) and avoided this backlash...
I really think MS didn't expect the shitstorm to hit this level and were hoping a lot of it would pass over quickly .

I already apologized saying I was wrong. I do pay attention for sales threads regardless of platform though out of curiosity. My overall point stands though that their sales prices will still pale in comparison.
There is plenty of FUD going all around for everything I agree. Some of it is understandable as we don't have 100% info on everything currently, some of it is done so on plain error, and then some just to make things worse.
I was reading that some websites are starting to report that MS is denying them E3 interviews now as well. Also some media sites (not gaming ones) are picking up on the story.
I really think MS didn't expect the shitstorm to hit this level and were hoping a lot of it would pass over quickly but it seems this is going to be a big thing they are going to be bombard with at E3 even though they purposely put the info out ahead of E3 to avoid the negative light there.
The bolded sounds absurd, but keep in mind that MS has a confirmed history of buying success. They straight bought out developers to develop for the OG Xbox, they bought Nokia to push Windows Phones, they've paid businesses to use Office 365, etc.
It almost seems that like MS reviewed every negative thing they could possibly do with their next gen Xbox, and decided to implement every single one of the. Just, a total cock up at every level.
Sony needs to capitalize on this, fan the flames, play up the things you're no longer able to do with the X1, release ads targeting the Big Brother Kinect, etc. They could cinch this generation before the damn things even ship.
What are their options? I hardly think down clocking is a realistic solution.
A total failure of Xbone and Microsoft leaving the gaming market would be probably the happiest event in my lifetime next to raising my kids.
Although correct, the chart is incredibly confusing on purpose. Charts like this should be made in a root formation.
Just wait till you have to sit through unskippable trailers, ads and, anti piracy /anti trading ads, etc just to get the start menu like you do with movies. Oh yes..it's coming.

I personally think that most, if not all of these changes being made by MS is because game prices haven't adjusted with inflation. I remember when I was young seeing new Sega and SNES games for $50-60, and I've read that NES games were the same years earlier. $1 in 1985 would be worth $2.18 today. If games increased with inflation, we'd be paying ~$130 for a new game today. Couple that with MASSIVELY increased development costs and I can see why only the big publishers survive nowadays.
I'm not defending anything or getting on a soapbox, just making an observation.
> "MS is paying developers not to talk to Sony"
MS has been paying for exclusives (full and timed) throughout the 360 era, how is that not true?
Titanfall is almost certainly a case where MS paid suitcases full of cash to buy an exclusive, and also paid to have it be a tech demo for their Azure cloud services:

It would have been interesting if they had different prices for transferable vs non transferable licences. I somehow doubt that being able to sell their game would be so important if they had to pay more for it. Im actually surprised how generous they are in the terms announced yesterday. I fully expect it will be mostly a vocal minority that really does anything like boycotting once it launches.
That's the route they really should have taken. Give people a reason to buy into a more restrictive format (like cheaper price and same day availability) and people would have gone for it. Instead some moron decided to restrict everything.
MS is is basically putting out all the dirty laundry now so that it they can just show the highlights on the X1 at E3 and that is what the mass media will see. That is the only reason we got the info we did from them today, because there is nothing positive in those bullet points, Each one of those "features" has a negative of some sort.
Sony is in a very interesting position. They could make a big focus point of how they will not require internet access and allow games to be sold/traded/etc like they have been (both of which they confirmed) and basically turn that bad light right back at MS and get the media's attention on it. They could do this with minimal effort and time spent at their conference as a bullet point when they run down some of the features of the system.
In all my years of gaming (around 29 now), the X1 is the first console launch I am not excited for in any way, shape, or form. I've outright wanted a console to fail like I do this one as well. There is too much anti consumerism crap going on here to want to see this have success. If it does have success it is going to pave the road to screw us all over more so in the future.
