My GF has a decent wireless AGE headset that is USB, although I doubt it will work on the Xbox One. I hope an adapter is released.

This adapter is for the ones that plug into the controller. It isn't all just cheap headsets and I will be honest, the wireless ones are all cheap except the astro and even those are decimated by the sennheiser headset which uses a wire. Any audiophile worth his salt will tell you that wired is always the best. Not always the most convenient.

Even better is using a zalman clip on mic with a high end set of headphones of your choosing. Then running the mic right to the controller and the headphones to your receiver or headphone amp.

Didn't I read that the X1 would be able to pass game audio through to headsets connected to the controller as well?
Whereas with the 360, you'd have to plug a wired/wireless set into the console itself, the X1 allows you to just plug in a headset designed for it right into the controller and you'd get 5.1 game audio as well as voice.
Or was I dreaming?
Cuz that would make all the old sets useless anyways I would think, no more having to have wireless receivers sitting by your console or 20 foot cords running from the console to your couch.

Well in that robot demo the ps4 mentioned it will have some small speaker on the controller. I think Xbox may have some of the same features too.

Depends on how they use it. In one of the Zelda games, for DS, they had a "puzzle" where you had to blow into the mic to blow the dust off a map or something like that. They even had a part where you had to close the DS to copy an engraving. While gimmicky, it was a clever way to use the technology in a different way.

The Zelda stuff is cool because they dont wear it out using it over and over again for tasks better suited to a button. Its a one time innovative and cool novelty thing that happens once or twice at a non crucial calm in game play in a way that doesn't cause frustration or ruin the regular game play.

Its not like you have to shake the DS like an idiot every time you want to slash or jump the entire game and you miss jumps or die because of it. That would be total ass (New SMB Wii I'm looking at you...)

Nintendo has made tons of money off gimmick and I was glad to see they were used sparingly in the Zelda game. Blowing into the mic ONCE was nice and was seen like "oh, I didn't know that could be done" and then you went about the game. And the shutting was a bit more interesting because you don't normally think of the shutting as part of the game's control scheme; which, again, was used very little.

its good yes but at what cost? if you still have to pay for your TWC sub and the XBL gold price, you are paying an extrat fee per year to change the channels with your hand

that seems kinda stupid IMO

Getting them on board is the first step. Once they have that, I am sure they can integrate the Xbox One into a cable box and that is a big selling feature.

That is interesting. My sister in law is getting ready to go to college and she thinks she will only have basic cable, so this could be a selling point for her. I can just link it to my account so she can use my log in info.

Here ya go, MS drops Dev patch fees. Glad to see all the bitching is working, granted it seems they did this months ago, but no one knew.

Careful impulse, this is the internet and we can't be too positive about MS. First this and then changing their stance on their DRM stuff, it's almost like they are listening to complaints. But I'm sure that isn't the case, they are just an evil corporation that doesn't care about gamers anymore.

I don't believe MS cares about gamers. Few companies these days care about their customers, only the money they can rake in from them. The business climate is not the same as it was 50 years ago. While it's always been somewhat cutthroat and greedy, at least in years past they played some lip service and showed some sort of customer first mentality because they wanted every customer. Now you have companies like EA who just publicly bash your paying customers when they don't agree with you. MS was pretty indignant at first. None of their changes were about customers, it was all about money.

Sometimes the only way you can get their attention is to throw a tantrum. Remember, money and image talks.

Now they just need to allow self publishing for indies. At least they got rid of the absurd patch fee. I understand the reasoning behind it, but it was obviously antiqued awhile ago and should have been axed a couple of years ago.

Unfortunately, I doubt that companies who might have released patches years ago are going to go back and release patches now.

Interesting that Xbox One has hardware audio, when Windows Vista removed hardware audio.

Someone tell me if I'm wrong, because I don't follow this arena that closely anymore. But Vista didn't remove hardware audio, it introduced a Hardware Abstraction Layer. It's like when DirectX first started. The first version of DirectX was extremely limited when compared to writing directly to the video hardware of the time because it was a new, evolving graphics library. Now that DirectX has been around a long time and expanded, nobody thinks twice about it. The same thing happened with audio.

PCs remove direct hardware calls for security and stability, two things that a HAL provides. In the case of a console, it's a locked down system so there's less of a concern about those issues.

Posts like these confuse me. People don't hate Microsoft, people hate the stupid shit they tried to push on us with the Xbox One. You, purbeast0, and smackababy act like Microsoft didn't screw themselves over.
