Asking about the RNC, is like asking if we want to accept a lie as the truth.

The republicans and the democrats are both lying to the people. The fallacy is us debating which lie is better then the other.

i completely agree.

Both sides should be dedicated to the truth.

And as voters...both sides should be equally dedicated getting at the truth and wading thru the BS to discover what it is that the candidates ARE NOT telling you.

Ryan's speech was incoherent and filled with contradictions.
Obamacare! Big government!! Too much spending/stimulus/debt!!! Bad Obama.

2 seconds later ... Obama didn't stop the auto factory from closing in my district. Obama cut medicare and hurt the old people. Obama did nothing on the debt commission which I was a member of and voted against. Obama's stimulus was bad but I requested and received funding for my district.

Ryan is certainly up to speed with Willard's tricks.

Every time I tune in it's old socially conservative white people ranting about how America used to be great, that Obama somehow vaguely destroyed it, and that voting for Rom-bot will somehow fix that...without any concrete plan.

Demographics are really going to derail whatever is left of this party in the coming years.
Concrete plan? When one finds oneself in a deep and rapidly deepening hole, one first needs to stop digging. Then one can plan on how to get out of the hole.

I thought Dr Condoleezza Rice sounded more presidential then all of the speakers put together.
Agreed. She should be our nominee. "I'm my own First Lady." I'd vote for her over any Republican except maybe Gary Johnson - who's not really a Republican anymore anyway.

If we wade through all the BS we'd find that neither party has a clue how to get us out of this mess, at least not at a price we're currently willing to pay. I highly doubt a plurality of voters are ready to confront that message.

Well the march of the crazy people just finished their "all hail to the golden idol of Ronald Reagan" segment.
At least THAT part is over....

I want to see more of the dancing horse, damn it....

Romney's economic plan is laughably vague given that he's running on his business experience that will shape his policies to get the economy moving again. When he's cornered he states that he doesn't want to give up the details because they might be criticized...instead he substitutes empty patriotic rhetoric for information. There is a banner ad on this very site that advertises "More Jobs, More Take-Home Pay" and when you mouse over it a response to the way out of context "you didn't build that" quote shows up with zero actual information about how the former will be accomplished.

Why the does Rubio continue to say "these" United States, that shit changed right after the civil war. The only people I have heard use that reference is Mike Church (laughing about how we are still a Republic), the Liberty Movement, and while watching the History channel. Might as well just say Merika! because he has no idea what the reasoning is for calling it these instead the.

I know the RNC had to change it's schedule because of Hurricane Isaac, and that the convention is not over yet, but honestly, what is the simple take home message they are trying to present?

Supposed Obama sucks / Red meat to the base if obvious, but isn't Romney's speech tonight supposed to be rotation to middle to try and capture truly persuadable swing voters?

Seems like Microcrap mediocrity by corporate committee (incoherent gibberish), rather than singlular vision for the future like a Steve Jobs at Apple or even Jeff Bezos at Amazon.

Romney ain't ready for prime time (great at tearing things apart, horrible at trying to build anything actually positive and constructive for future).

Well... Everything republicans are saying about Romney tonight, we already have in president Obama.
Good father. Good husband. Family man. Religious. Worked his way up. Loves family and history. Worked hard. Dreamed big. Respects women, families, those in need. Etc, etc.

All this and more we have already in Obama.

What should concern every observer, is republicans speaking at the GOP convention have no problem telling bold face lies. So we are to believe the good they claim about Romney???
Really???
Where is the line between the lie and the truth?
Or just maybe there is no truth. None at all....
Now THAT is a scary thought!!!

Romney should have hired Michael Douglas to coach him on how to give a Greed is Good speech.

He is truly a coreless lizard - Gordon Gekko, but without even a hint of the humanity or like-ability Michael Douglas brought to the character.

Probably a (successful) ruthless SOB as a business person, but an truly an *sshole as a person.

(And is that the Republican establishment starting to sharpen their long knives I hear now?)

Don't you love it when republicans, and especially Mitt, proclaim family and personal freedom, that is unless you are not one of "us". I.e. gay, black, Hispanic, or a woman.
I wonder what Dick Cheney feels about his daughters marriage targeted as something that needs to be dismantled?
Mitt needs a gay son. Then we'd see a 180 on this issue.

I highly doubt that. Conservatives are so fucking hate filled and morally corrupt that Mitt would disown his son if he found out his son was gay.

The RNC should have given Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, a couple of Tea Party leaders and the Koch brothers prime time speaking slots, for its people like that that truly represent the will and wishes of that party.

These people would have really rocked the house and given the conservative base a huge swell to ride on into the elections.

Instead, I wonder why these true conservative commentators and pundits weren't given the national limelight they deserve as they are iconic symbols of that party and speak to the heart and soul of the Repub mindset.

I wish I was kidding.

Wow, I'm shocked that made it to air.

It's a local station so no one really cares. It is just hilarious the extremes Romney and the GOP is willing to go to to keep power. To have the power to tell all 50 states who they can and cannot seat is absurd. To be able to pick and choose like that and not have other avenues to approach democracy via caucuses and primaries is ridiculous.

On a Fox station. In a swing state. If they didn't before I bet someone cares now.

If Romney loses, and Akin wins, I really don't see the GOP coming out of this election intact.
