From watching the trailer. Kid gets slapped after kicking an adult who is disciplining him. Helicopter parents swoop in and act like their precious snowflake will be scarred for life from being slapped and the legal battle ensues.

Obviously what Sylar did was very, very wrong. Ripping the bat out of the kid's hands was absolutely fine and 100% called for. But the situation was over at that point. Walk away. Does the kid need his come uppance? Yeah, but let someone else do time for giving it to him. Maybe the class bully will take care of it.

But holy fuck does his mother make me want to go on a hippie murder spree. I know people like her and sometimes you just want to just want to throw one in front of a bus or boil them in tar. Her real world counterparts represent some of the dumbest, most narcissistic, nitwitted retards our society has to cope with.

I wonder if she vaccinates :hmm:

The original was an Australian book.

Then they turned it into an Australian (soap opera style) TV series.

Now there is an American TV series.

At heart, the story explores basic urban family-life themes (love, commitment, community, blah). The book was great because it did this in an entertaining and thought-provoking way, and also because it depicted urban Australian society in a brutally-honest way.

How much of this was retained by adapting the story to the TV screen, I cannot say. It's more than possible that yet another good story has been bastardised in the interest of a quick buck.

Lol you're way too much into this show.

Like I said, I know several people like the hippie mom... one is a sister-in-law. A lot of history there so seeing it again made my blood boil. She wasn't a hippie, but she let her son do anything, include hitting/biting/etc mine (they're the same age). We waited and waited for her to do something about it, then my wife spoke to her about it, nothing. Finally we gave our son the green light to fight back (and showed him how). He served that kid a whoopin, at which point my sister-in-law was suddenly concerned with the violence between the two boys, blah blah blah. Funny, they've not had a single problem since.

That's our society today. I got mine, fuck everyone else. So yeah, I'm probably too into it - that shit's mom just hits a very raw nerve with me.
