No sign of blinking from the Chinese.

China tells US to ‘cancel all unilateral tariffs’ if it wants talks

China has told the US to “completely cancel all unilateral tariff measures” if Washington wants trade talks, in some of Beijing’s strongest comments on the deepening trade war between the world’s two economic superpowers.
Beijing also said there were “no economic and trade negotiations between China and the United States”, despite repeated comments from President Donald Trump that the two sides were talking.
US Treasury secretary Scott Bessent has said in recent days that the trade war is “not sustainable” and that “there would have to be a de-escalation by both sides”.
He Yadong, a Chinese commerce ministry spokesperson, said on Thursday: “The unilateral tariff measures were initiated by the US.”
“If the US truly wants to solve the problem, it should . . . completely cancel all unilateral tariff measures against China and find a way to resolve differences through equal dialogue.”

China has consistently said that its “door is open” to talks, but an insistence that the US first unilaterally remove its tariffs as a precondition for negotiations would represent a hardening of its stance.

lol they are just tap dancing on him at this point.

And to think he could have just... not done any of this. He's now being humiliated before the world because he was too fucking stupid to understand how trade works.

The longer this goes on the more concessions Beijing is going to demand from him.

ok that video is addressed at republicans who are buying into Trump's tariffs and he had debunked that... yet people seem to miss the point that the Ultrarich and the regular person making working class wages pay different amounts on their first $30 thousand dollars of income.

It's just the ultrarich take days or hours to earn their first $30k (as an example of a working class annual income) and the working class retail worker might take a year to earn it.

Everyone pays the same tax rate on their first few tens of thousands of dollars....
then as the richer earn more they pay a higher rate on the next segment of income realized after their first 30k (again as a an example of what the basic minimum wage worker can earn in a year with about $15/hr.) up to say $60k (as an example
as people with higher incomes make more they pay an even higher marginal rate of tax on the next segment of income than they paid on dollar 30,001 to $60k (again as an example) which in turn was higher than the first $30k which would be the same rate for them as a person making only $30k a year would...

Of course tax credits and deductions also end up affecting the base tax rates.
in effect he is reinforcing what Bernie supporters had advocated for... less tax cuts for the wealthy (something that Warren Buffet also said is reasonable whilst acknowledging that many of the wealthy advocating for less taxes for the wealthy is in effect class warfare) something that people assume Warren Buffet is also advocating.I guess I have to assume people are just replying off the cuff without letting curiosity motivate them too look up the quote which I have to put here for clarity I guess.

Mr. Buffett compiled a data sheet of the men and women who work in his office. He had each of them make a fraction; the numerator was how much they paid in federal income tax and in payroll taxes for Social Security and Medicare, and the denominator was their taxable income. The people in his office were mostly secretaries and clerks, though not all.

It turned out that Mr. Buffett, with immense income from dividends and capital gains, paid far, far less as a fraction of his income than the secretaries or the clerks or anyone else in his office. Further, in conversation it came up that Mr. Buffett doesn’t use any tax planning at all. He just pays as the Internal Revenue Code requires. “How can this be fair?” he asked of how little he pays relative to his employees. “How can this be right?”
Even though I agreed with him, I warned that whenever someone tried to raise the issue, he or she was accused of fomenting class warfare.
“There’s class warfare, all right,” Mr. Buffett said, “but it’s my class, the rich class, that’s making war, and we’re winning.”

So yes everyone does need to be taxed... yet the balance of those paying taxes in America has shifted from those in higher income brackets to those in lower income brackets such that the rich did in effect get richer in relation to inflation and the less rich not so much.

The ultra rich take their income in the form of capital gains and pay a lower rate than the merely rich who work for a living. When payroll taxes are factored in, the rich pay a lower rate than much of the middle class pays.

True but this detail does not rebut the point that were made in the video about were the investments of the wealth generated through trade that the video makes.

The wealth generated by China due to the benefits from NAFTA was in a far greater part invested in infrastructure education, and health care.

While in America far less was invested in infrastructure, education, and health care.

And this still holds from the Ben Stein penned article/interview I referenced in my previous post.

Put simply, the rich pay a lot of taxes as a total percentage of taxes collected, but they don’t pay a lot of taxes as a percentage of what they can afford to pay, or as a percentage of what the government needs to close the deficit gap.

Nor does the detail of capital gains address or rebut the argument Warren Buffet makes about Class Warfare and which class is waging it.

Even though I agreed with him, I warned that whenever someone tried to raise the issue, he or she was accused of fomenting class warfare.

“There’s class warfare, all right,” Mr. Buffett said, “but it’s my class, the rich class, that’s making war, and we’re winning.”

Watching this unfold all I can wonder is how Trump has stayed rich. I know he's filed for bankruptcy 6 or 7 times. But how he's managed all these decades to not go completely broke is beyond me. His art of the deal here is proof he's not fit to be a businessman. Him and his cult were beyond arrogant thinking China would have no choice but to give in. China didn't, Canada didn't & Mexico didn't. I don't see any art to this deal.

From his actions since January, I don't see how this fucking idiot hasn't been homeless for the past 30 years. And MAGAts are still saying we're lucky Kamala didn't win lol. I'ma go out on a limb and predict that Kamala couldn't have fucked up this big in 4 months. And a bunch of his brainless followers still think China will come crawling to Trump begging.

The fuck up was Bidens..

1. He never shoulda run again
2. But the biggest thing that influenced the election was Putin getting Iran to tell their agents to start the Gaza war and Biden just supported Israel no matter what.. when the base clearly is not on board with that.

And ofcourse there's the misogyny factor..

There's a considerable amount of left leaning incels that will NEVER vote for a woman that talks like a school teacher lecturing everyone!

You wouldn't believe how many libs voted for Donnie because!

Still no one is saying.. we shoulda voted for Kam..

Edit: I always thought tragedies were Greek literature but a case can be made.. we Americans sure love creating sensationalist tragedies irl!

Trump didn’t file for bankruptcy, his businesses did. Trump profited from driving his businesses into bankruptcy at the expense of other investors, creditors, and employees.

Is that like creating a LLC so you're not directly responsible if it's in red.. but other investors will have to foot the bill?

Being crooked as he is, I'd count on him siphoning out a lot of cash before the bankruptcy of them.

I agree.

After SCOTUS declared POTUS is above the law, a Red Wedding on Jan 20th, 2025 was mandatory. Old man Biden couldn't comprehend the assignment. He had ONE JOB, and he utterly failed.

Democracy is neither saved or created by one man. Biden didn’t fail, the voters and those who didn’t bother voting failed and they’ll fail again if they keep voting for republicans.

Part of me hopes he fucks things up so bad.. we know we can't live together and start breaking apart into smaller countries.

Because lets be honest.. you can't talk people out of a cult.. hell you can't talk a country out of a cult either. And it's abundantly clear they want MAGAistan!
