I have a theory: because he's so terrible with finances, the only time his money has worked correctly in his accounts, it's when he's not touching it, so he had an economic understanding that the only positive way of using money is if someone else is immediately giving you more in return. Otherwise the only winning move is to not play. We're in a trade deficit with a company?
