Yup this and what started it was Washington Post suddenly decided it’s no longer appropriate to endorse candidates, then IMMEDIATELY after the election Betos gives a million or more to the inauguration fund, you know the Presidents slush fund.
Year to date I have spent $68-ish dollars on Amazon and $40 of that was due to an Amazon gift card I received.

I might spend a little more soon.. I want some Gateron brown switches.. still looking at alternate sites but can't find a good deal just yet.

But if I can get alternates at a comparable price, I get alternates! Amazon prime is already cancelled.

Yeah I am having trouble finding a responsible place. I do Walmart & Target and I know they aren’t great alternatives however in Walmarts defense you know exactly what they’re about and they have expanded their US made goods. Target simply folded under DEI. Again I know both aren’t the best choices at least I am spreading my spending out.

Just left the store moments ago, eggs are absolutely lower now. Dozen store brand cage free eggs $5.99, 18 of the same store brand $6.99.
Fancy Feast cat food up $1 per case of 24, cat litter up $0.79 from its usual sale price. Not sure of the regular price on the litter because I only buy what’s on sale and this is always on sale.

We also have phones and phone cases... that's it though.
Yup, when I worked in wireless we used to shop them just to see what they’re up to with their crazy low prices.
I did a few of those shops, they failed all of my shops. Either nobody knew nothing or nobody even acknowledged I was there for greater than five minutes. I remember others who did shops had the same experience.
Another great example of the messy middle. I want to sell phone contracts to earn money, I also want to give all that money away to potential buyers because my staff is untrained & incompetent and it’s just too hard to fix that (which is utterly the wrong decision).

That was a dumbass decision anyhow. The only people that knew radio shack sold phones were people that were going there for unrelated reasons. It's not like they advertised it.

Hell the only reason I've had to physically enter a radio shack in the last 2 decades was to buy some capacitors and surprise surprise, they didn't carry any. Ended up buying from some chinese wholesaler.

I think it depends on the items being considered for purchase. I would absolutely purchase USA made work boots. I have an anecdotal experience. The brand was Matterhorn boots. This was when I had to crawl alot in crawlspaces ect, they were listed under mining worker boots. The USA made ones lasted longer, but here's the rub, they didn't have insulation for like winter. So I purchased "almost" the exact same boots with insulation, but they were made in China. The waterproofing of the USA made pair lasted the life of the boots, the China made ones, 3 months before water proofing failed. Insulation is no good if your feet get wet.

So the 3rd pair I bought were just like the originals, same model number, made in USA. the water proofing lasted beyond 3 or more years. The price wasn't much difference. I think the insulated ones may have been 20 mucks more. I can't remember, but the quality was garbage. If it wasn't for trying the second USA pair, I wouldn't have believed there was that much of a quality difference.

My current work boots, were 550 bucks, 16" lineman boots. Work gives me 200 towards boots every year. But I don't use it, because the 200dollar boots are garbage as well. My Wesco boots, I sent them in for custom fitting during a rebuild which was 325 ish, they appeared brand new, but wearing them told me otherwise, because a new pair takes like 2 months of oiling and wearing to break in properly. The 3rd go around was having them mainly re soled. w shipping ect, was about 260, by this time I got my work to cover the boot allowance towards rebuilding. Which was also increased to 250 per year. I need to send them again for the heel portion wearing, but it's been 2 years.

Same with my Lineman's body belt, safety trap (Buck-squeeze) and Climbers.

But it really depends on the items. Like my PC watercooling, I would prefer Aquacomputer, Heatkiller, I have a DT waterblock, Detroit wb but they went defunct. Caselabs is probably my best USA made purchase. Unless it gets thrown off a building, this thing will last forever. Kinda like them OLD Pioneer stereo equipment from the 70's early 80's, the analog stuff.

But as to your original post, I find myself, just buying less, I will check the country of origin, and debate the cost difference, and depending on the necessity of the item. If it is within 10% on something under 100 dollars I will go the 10% route. I just feel we should support our workers, because I have worked an assembly or production line. There is no way I would do that work for minimum wage or even 15-18 dollars an hour.
I described it like this to people that had never done it. It is like standing in one spot for 8 hours, and you have to wash the same plate over and over and over again, and you never get to the bottom or the last plate. It's not like it's a plate, a bowl, utensils, pans, no that variety does not come. you may wash any of those but for 8 hours it is one type the whole time.

Wesco makes damned good boots as well. Whites and Nicks "bread and butter" is the construction and logging trades, IIRC, Wesco's is the lineman-types of trades.

I'd love a pair of White's or Nick's boots for work but they are so expensive. My USA made Danners and Chippewas have held up pretty well though. Even better than my old Red Wings. Learned a long time ago that one pricey well built boot will protect me and last longer than the same money put into multiple cheap junk.

I wore Nick's and Whites for nearly all of my 30+ years in construction. If I couldn't get to Whites to get boots made from my last, I could get them from Nicks. (custom lasts have to be updated every few years as our feet change as we get older.) I still have my last pair of Smoke Jumpers from Whites hanging in the garage. When I blew out my knee in 2003, I thought I'd be going back to work, so I sent them in and had them rebuilt. I think I've worn them 5-6 times since then...puttering in the yard.

@DaaQ L.L. Bean wicked good moccasins and slippers.

Gotta pay attention to which "wicked good slippers" you get. SOME are made in the USA, some are "imported."

Two things a working man should never scrimp on...his work boots and his mattress. You spend TOO much time in one...and not enough time in the other.
