How does Gnome 3.4 compare to 3.2?
The major changes were to epiphany, documents and contacts. They also introduced the boxes application for VMs. Not much has changed from Gnome 3.2.

Mine looks like a PuTTY terminal window. I'll save you the disappointment of a screenshot.

Here's my E17 theme. I had to reboot, and wasn't paying attention during login, and ended up in Gnome3. I played with it awhile, and decided I still hated it :^D I figured I'd play around in E17 before getting back into Xfce. I mostly like the de, but the panels pretty much suck. If it weren't for that, I'd consider using it full time.

Just finished messing with my cinnamon install. Here's what I ended up with. My GTK2 theme is still a bit off compared to the rest of it but I need to find one that fits. I'm really happy with it now.

I like that desktop zokudo. It has an early 80s vibe :^)

Thanks. I really like the wallpaper. I actually just fixed the GTK2 problem. I was missing a GTK2 rendering engine or something. Now my GTK theme applies to them correctly.

Also I like the earthtones theme you have going on. What's that weather at the top of your screen?

That's freemeteo weather from the screenlets package. It comes in the package for Ubuntu 12.04, but I had to download it for this system. It's a little buggy. I'm not sure what the issue is, but sometimes the forecast goes AWOL, and I have to restart it. That, and the analog clock(cairo clock) are place holders until I figure out what/how I want to do it with conky. Maybe I never will. screenlets is easy to implement :^D

The clock's kinda fugly. I like the weather.

:^D Yea, I've gotta agree. I like the colors, and the idea, but the execution's off. I want to take some time to learn Inkscape, and make my own clocks. There's damned few that look good in the screenshots, and then when I get them installed, they don't look right :^/

Might as well post here. There's a pretty-much-default panel hidden along the top edge of the screen, and docky along the bottom. I'm still not quite happy with the first handful of lines of conky, I'll probably keep screwing around with that for a while.

Interesting. I like the post modern approach, where the text plays off the stark white background. It has a certain Scandinavian efficiency of design.

Rehosted for you. Don't think the forums like an img link that's linked to a php page.

Thanks - wasn't sure how well that would work out, but I thought I'd give it a try since it was right there. I've updated my post as well.

I like that Vin. It kind of looks like the lights are coming from under your panel :^)

Playing around in E17 again. I wish it was easier to install modules. I tried one script for Bodhi. It said it installed, but it's nowhere to be found. I don't feel like installing from source cause I probably won't like it anyway :^D I like quick and easy binaries that can be easily created and deleted.

Edit:
Well, I hosed my E17 install :^D

I enabled some kind of experimental compositing, and it messed up my display. It made it completely unusable. As luck would have it, I had myself set to auto login, so restarting the computer sent me directly to my broken E17 :^D I edited my lightdm.conf in tty, and can get to Xfce now, but I'm trying to figure out how to fix E17. The configuration files are binary, and there isn't anything you can just edit from what I've seen.

I like E17, but it's really been a PITA. I may fool around more with OpenBox, and see how it works for a light desktop.

Edit2:
I "fixed" it by deleting my config, and generating a new one. Back to the default setting :^/

As you probably know, I've been smitten by Ubu/LXDE/Openbox, as of late.

I like it just fine, on portables, and on the desktop, but...

The other day, I saw a screenie by someone running Ubu/Openbox/Cairo -- looked really sharp!

I'm gonna test that combo next, when I get some free time.
