Game will be done downloading in about 30 minutes. I need quick tips.

I plan on doing what I do in all my games:

Leveling up the strongest (passive) abilities as possible so I can walk around like a badass and kill anybody who dares question my authority. Also sex.

So yeah...is magic worth it in this game? Swords? Which one = easier path to uber power. Also, is this game like Skyrim where no matter where I go mobs are the same level as me? Or am I restricted to areas based on level?

Some areas have way higher mobs then you in Velen so you can't walk around like a bad ass,as to weapons depends on drops and loot ,I found relic swords were better at start but the Witcher swords are great once you find all their schematics, from low to high ie (standard, enhanced, superior, mastercraft),as to magic yes it can come in handy ie wraiths using Yarden to trap them, and igni is also good against mobs,I found having a balance approach was best, all depends on your actual playing style,I stayed away from heavy armour, light is great for stamina regen and medium good compromise between light and heavy, again no right or wrong on what you prefer.

Putting stats in fast attack, strong and mutagens I found a good way to start the game.

Swords and gear have level requirements and you have to watch your weight limit until you find those saddlebags that increase weight limit in inventory.

I have absolutely no idea what you just said but I'm about to re-define this game with my badassery. You just wait.

This is a game where your level of badassery depends on your ability to avoid taking damage and counter attack.

How does this game control with a controller? I'm running more things to the HDTV, and I'm pretty sure that this would look just brilliant running at Ultra settings on a 65 inch screen. But KBM is pretty rotten for couch gaming. So could I use a controller in this, or is that just folly? Or could I use a controller most of the time, but have a wireless keyboard with some hotkeys for certain items / spells or whatever? Anyone do this?

It's designed with xbox 360 controller and a lot of PC gamers actually prefer that so you should have no problems.

That's how I played it and I like it better than way (as I do all 3rd person games).

Are these sites actually reputable? I don't want to get stuck with some stolen key from Russia, or worse, end up with thousands of dollars charged to my card by scammers.

it's likely they are selling the free keys given out by Nvidia. It's grey market. The retail game is $60 and I doubt any company is going to eat the extra $40 just because they like you.

I use gamemafia.Pro and GK4A, also few others with no issues over the years(every key I received is working and still is),you actually pay for the key and protection so if the key is invalid you can get a new key or refund.

Yeah, what better way to make your site look like a legitimate business than to name it Game Mafia? Hmmmm.... think I'll probably stick to Steam. Now I just need to get my monitor issue sorted out to see if I've got the money to drop on The Witcher. Why are GSync monitors so stupidly expensive?

My tips would be to focus most of your points on one area. If you want to use signs, level up fast attack and strong attack a little bit, and then put your points in signs.

The beauty of the game is that there is no right way to use your points. You could go straight potions and still end up being a badass. Just know that there are at least 3 merchants I have found that sell "Potion of Clearance" which returns all your ability points back into a pool and lets you completely respec your character.

Make it to the middle of the game and decide you didn't want to use potions? Buy the potion, clear everything and put your points where you want them. If you are patient enough and don't spam attacks you will find this game to be extremely rewarding on higher difficulty levels. Every fight will be tough, but it all comes down to your skill which is how a game should be.

I'm looking forward to another play through after I finish this one. Easily my game of the year if not the game of the decade. Witcher 3 is amazing, and I'm sad CD Projekt isn't going to make any more games with Geralt as the main character now that they really seem to have found their stride with the series.

Play on maximum easy and plan to mastercraft the Ursine heavy armor.

I've been KBM on the couch with this...because my desk is on the other side of the country right now. I'm sure this is fine with a gamepad, I just wanted to use my KBM. I find that implementation is better than what was in W2 (I sued gamepad), so I stick with it.

I'd like the comfort of a gamepad, though, in my current situation.

Hated the game initially when going KB/M and switched to the XB1 controller which made it 100% better. This isn't a FPS so being able to mash buttons over mouse precision is important. Even the crossbow is auto aim.

My Galaxy launcher just updated to 1.0.5.11 beta,I wonder how long we have to wait for the 1.07 Witcher 3 patch?

Published: Jul 1, 2015 at 7:24 am EST

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt continues to be patched over time, signifying CD Projekt RED’s (CDPR) undying support for its games. Marcin Momot, community coordinator at CDPR, shed some light on what to expect on the official board of the game. According to DualShockers, he first discussed about patch 1.07 for PC, which is releasing in a few days, and which might be titled 1.06 on consoles. He stated that a holdup wasn’t the reason for the fans not receiving the update anytime sooner. Mr. Momot’s post on the official forum of the game reads: “Yes. We are working on it. No hold up. The update is quite large so everything needs to be tested properly. We thank you for your patience and understanding.”

I hope it is today.

Next time I'm going to try the medium signs type build with armour pen. I swear by that light, crit-oriented build; but, I'll say that it does make the game too darn easy even on death march once you learn how to avoid enemy attacks. This is especially true if you go potions as the "other" part of your build, the two skills that allow for 25% insta heal and 50% (I believe) additional effect of mutagens are very op. I had three of my slots with greater red giving me so much attack power that I was able to just destroy everything in my path. Also, it may be fixed by now; but, I found a game breaking bug with superior Thunderbolt that gives you 100% crit in any weather even though it is supposed to only work in cloudy? I believe weather.

Medium armor signs build is just as overpowered, and with less risk.

Honestly, the game isn't going to be much of a challenge regardless of build once you master the combat mechanics.

I feel like they should have made the main quests scale up to your level.

For example;have a base level for each quest like currently, then if you were say 10 levels above it the game would scale enemies to your abilities, in that case the experience rewards should still be kept to an absolute minimum and use the base quest level to determine experience reward to prevent further over leveling.

I think that's the best way to do, it lets you do all the side activities and still keep the challenge of the game when you want to get back to the main plot.

It isn't really a problem for me right now, but I can see how I might need to increase difficulty to death match once I actually start spending ability points and getting better equipment.

I would also like to add the Novigrad is huge. I'm only just going to merchants to build my Gwent deck but man that place is east to get lost.

This.

I played majority of the game with light armor set up and it wasn't all that challenging. Things died way too fast.

I switched up to medium armor, because the wolf set is just so badass-looking, and it is no less OP. Takes longer for things to die, but it seems the slightly-higher armor of the max wolf set (level 34 compared to level 31 for the other master-craft sets), make it very difficult for things to harm you, even on deathmarch. I haven't tried heavy armor sets yet.
