So you have the gear equipped even though you don't meet the requirements but if you remove it it will tell you that you don't meet the requirements and lock you out for 2 levels?

This has to be one of the most bonehead changes I've ever seen in a game. Between that and the SLI issues that the new patch seems to introduce they took a nearly flawless game in my eyes and ruined that image for me. I can't remember a time when a piece of gear had a level requirement change after people were already using it.

Yeah they didn't force remove the gear if are currently wearing it, but removing it in any way(cut scene, or manually) will not allow me to equip it back because I'm two short of the new level requirement. Which sucks, but I guess that gives me an excuse to clear the question marks in Velen.

They raised the level requirement for all Witcher gear by 3, I think they did that to have all Witcher gear have the same level requirement which they do now apparently, and to balance it with the wolf set which some people said was overpowered.

Right now master tier has a level 34(31 before) requirement, people are saying that you will basically finish the game at that level, but CD Red was balancing for the two expansions which should take place after the main game.

Finally beat it. Been playing since the game came out. Who knows how many hours I put in. As I felt myself nearing the end I tried to stretch it out, find everything I can find, optimize armor, etc. I really didnt want it to end. What a great game. The only other game I remember getting me this invested in the story is Bioshock.

This was the first Witcher game I've completed, but I've got the other two in my steam account. I always had trouble getting into them in the past. Time to go back and give them another shot now that I'm a bit more steeped in the Witcher's lore and have generally bought into the franchise.

Edit: just checked my playtime. 181 hours.

On the plus side, you now get to devote 2 levels of running around Velen as a bare-chested Witcher, striking fear into the hearts of bandits as they see you tearing into their camps.

I didn't realize that the gear level adjustment effected every tier, but it makes sense with Masterclass after they introduced the Wolf set, at level 34 when the other sets had been placed at level 31.

Same here, my enhanced feline swords now require level 23, but I'm level 20. Had them equipped, everything fine. After a romp in a lighthouse with an old flame, the game unequipped my damn swords, and now they're useless for 3 levels. Thanks Obama!

If true, how did this even get broken? None of the patch notes that I saw mentioned vsync adjustments at all.

No idea but there are always undocumented updates.

I've tested it multiple times and confirmed it. We know they did some double buffering thing to the Xbox One version that dropped fps from 30 to 20 in heavy areas. So it sounds like the same thing is happening on the PC version, but instead fps is dropping from 60 to 40.

From release to 1.0.6 we had the option to run Fullscreen Mode + Nvidia Control Panel Vsync in for 60fps mode with no screen tearing + SLI frame pacing. It would drop down to 45 fps if you got close enough, but otherwise was silky smooth between 50-60fps.

Now the same mode drops you to 40fps locked whenever you are 55fps or below. If you disable Nvidia in-game vsync and enable in-game vsync it also does the same thing. Before this patch the in-game vsync and Nvidia control panel vsync were completely different.

So SLI users have two options now, 40fps gameplay (in which case I might as well just disable SLI and run on a single card) or 60fps with massive screen tearing.

I think I'm gonna just speedrush through the game now. It's completely unenjoyable as the stutterfest it currently is. A real shame.

In single player games, post patches should only deal with bugs and graphics/physics enhancements. They should not be touching stats/items simply for gameplay balancing. That is stupid when a person is halfway through the game already.

Yea post patch I noticed if I turn in a circle in the wooded area it has an almost dizzy effect. Something seems to have changed here with the graphics.

Did they change the sprint FOV effect in this patch? I haven't really played this game for weeks, but today I was playing a bit and sprint is really bugging me. In fact, I'd like to turn off that cheap effect altogether.

Aye. Though I can't tell if it is just faster, or there is some hidden blur/FoV that has been added.

I like the new movement mechanic, but I feel that Geralt is now way too fast. Before, he stumbled past your target when you stopped. Now, he overruns everything. It feels smoother, but certainly takes some adjustment. I wonder if they have tweaked the walk speed? I only loaded it for a few minutes to check on things, but I also haven't loaded this game in a few weeks.

Two comments...

1) I love the alternative movement mode.

2) I hate this game from a 'stuff to do perspective'. I'm level 21 and still have not hit Skellige yet because the damn game keeps giving me quests and I need to clear my log. Ahh!!

Optional Comment 3) Seriously though, I'm having a great time. This game definitely delivers bang for your buck!

is there any way to delete or filter out quests that you no longer wish to do? I know the ones you have the proper level for show as green, but I have a lot of quests that I am over leveled for, and i would like to just hide or delete them instead of having to scroll through them looking for quests of the proper level.

Why? A lot of quests lead to others.

Because you get no XP or decent loot if the quest is too far below your level. And TBH, I am getting sick of doing sidequests. By looking at walkthroughs I pretty much know what sidequests lead to further worthwhile quests.

Dont get me wrong I like the game, but I am also getting sick of some of the "hidden object" sidequests. And some I am just plain not interested in, like horse racing, fist fighting, and Gwent.

So I've ranted about Witcher 2 here in the past, but I don't feel like buying Witcher 3 at full price and I figured I'd give Witcher 2 one last shot. I skipped the tutorial entirely and jumped right into the prologue, and I'm glad I did; it's infinitely more epic and awe-inspiring right from the get-go. I had to look up some YouTube videos on combat tutorials to get an idea of what I was supposed to be doing. But once you get the hang of combat, it's actually a pretty damn good game. I've still had a couple of "run in, realize I'm completely overmatched, die, reload save, meditate and take some potions, win battle" times, which is annoying since you don't really get solid foreshadowing on every big fight you might face and it ends up feeling like trial and error. And I just wrapped up the fight against the Kayran, and after dying 20+ times, I had to drop the difficulty down to Easy or I was literally going to fly to Poland and start punching random passers-by in the hopes that I'd eventually tag the jackass responsible for designing that nonsense. But other than that, it's fun. Good story, engaging, feels epic, and I'm constantly worried that I'm making the wrong decisions and am going to screw myself down the road, which makes things more exciting. Now I'm even more excited for the Witcher 3, though I'm glad I have something to tide me over until it goes on sale again.

The Kayran was terrible, but you can enable easy quick time events in the options which makes that fight a lot easier.

Quick question.

I played Witcher 1 when it first came out, but never played Witcher 2.

Don't remember really anything in Witcher 1.

So my question is, should I really take the time to go all the way back, replay Witcher 1 and then even Witcher 2 (which I don't own) for the story (which I don't really wanna do) or will I be able to follow the story by just skipping all that and playing Witcher 3?

You'll be fine. Most of the game has only minor references to previous games, Mostly characters, but there are videos you can watch to catch up on that if you wanted.

Too bad you cant turn qte off entirely. I absolutely despise them, and they serve no useful purpose that I can see.

This. It is something that really needs to die. God bless the fact that it is not in Witcher 3.

AP: Witcher 3 will blow you away, I think. The story isn't nearly as complex as Witcher 2 (which is just way too much political bollocks about fantasy lands with horribly stupid names....Nilfgard?), but it does maintain that gravity with the choices you make.

There are a couple of plot recap videos on youtube that you can watch in 20 min or so. While the first two games are highly recommended the videos will be enough to get you into TW3.

Nilfgaard is constantly mentioned and I'd take No 2's politicking over 3's bland running around anyday. I still find it strange that Vizima isn't a whole city just a building. Consoles can barely hack Novigrad so its not that surprising.
