I did play witcher 2 a lot. But I'm sure you can read a wiki of the second one if you wanted. If you have time I would play it because it is great.I've been looking for a new game to play, this looks promising.
Is it a requirement to have played the previous two games? I tried to play the first one several times but just never could get into it.
Hey Rick, try disabling blur and enabling sharpness if you want the game to look as nice as possible. The blur option does exactly what it says..
Here's my first screenshot, and this is with everything maxed @ 1440p but with blur, CA and vignette disabled..

This was unlocked for me yesterday, but I didn't get any time to play. =( New monitor being delivered today and I'm sure I will spend far too long late into the night playing today.
Can anyone confirm 21:9 support?

Game feels a bit easier than the first two, combat-wise. The combat is much, much better, and feels like what the previous two should have been. However, in previous games, even on normal, running into a mob a level above you meant you probably needed some potions to buff you. Now, I am finding that at level 1, I can take on mobs at level 4, about 4 or 5 at a time, with some careful tactics. Also took out a bastard level 6 bear at level 1 (to get a place of power and an ability point).
I think it's iffy. There is a hud scaling option, but it's tuned around the standard 16:9 1080p aspect ration. On my 16:10 aspect ratio monitor I cannot adjust the hud into the corners, the maximum size is as if I am running 2560x1440 instead of my native 2560x1600.
Couple other pet peeves with this game;
- Witcher sense is awful and should never have shipped like this. It should not zoom in on Geralt and go tight over his right shoulder like it does. It's awkward and a bad view angle for moving around in tandem with the wavy effect it adds.
- The horse is buggy as fuck and gets stuck on trees and other objects when you call him.
Other than that the game is excellent. Story is amazing and I expect to get at least the 60+ hours out of this that I did from DA:I.
The combat is a hell of a lot better than it was in W2 once you get the hang of the dodging and rolling. I'm playing on the second highest difficulty and it took some time to get the hang of it and not die all the time, although it's rough getting used to no health regen and having to have food to eat.
I feel like the character points/attribute system is a little frustrating with how slow you level and how you can only use a few of the talent selections you make until your level gets higher opening up more slots. Maybe the pace of leveling will pick up. I'd also like the game to provide a bit more information on where to find specific materials.

Saw a few 21:9 screen shots over at OCUK forums,so yes look below. The guy has a Samsung VA curved 21:9 monitor.
Here is the thread page where he posted http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18485613&page=82
Most of the reviews seemed to agree that normal difficulty becomes too easy after a while. I'm still just level 4 but so far it seems reasonable. Taking on packs of enemies is doable, but risky. If you yourself get hit (and staggered) you can easily lose half of your health in a matter of seconds. Most of the monster enemies also seem to have a particular trick or tactic they favor, like wraiths vanishing and reappearing right on top of you so you have to be quick with the dodge. I'm thinking I'll probably bump the difficultly level up when I get a bit farther into the game.
Oh, my bad.
I don't understand the people complaining about the game's colour palette. I think the atmosphere is just fine. When the lighting and weather system is completely dynamic, the mood is going to fluctuate a bit naturally. On average, they got it spot on.
Also, bad frame times? It's the polar opposite for me. I still can't get over how smooth everything is with my average in the 20s-30s. Would 60fps V-Synced be vastly superior? Without a doubt. But that's not going to happen with the 960, and under the current circumstances I'm very impressed with the engine. I'll be interested to see the game's CPU usage once I get my main rig back online. Right now it's 100% GPU bound, so I can't tell much.
I'm using 347.88 with Pre Rendered frames at 1.
I only just hit level 2 after beating that wraith, after completing 3 quests and cleaning up 3 bandit camps, a shrine, killed a level 6 bear, some wolves, drowners, etc. I finally paid attention to mob XP, and after clearing out two bandit camps, I gained 2xp points....wtf?
EDIT: For those who got the serpent sword and interrogation report, does the blacksmith in the initial village actually forge it?
