This has been getting rave reviews, and it seems like most are mentioning improvements to the combat system, which was my biggest gripe with 2; I may have to pick this up.
In the video posted last night ^, the reviewer mentioned that signs work a bit differently--I don't quite get it, but it sounds like you can't activate them easily between sword swings. You sort of have to "disengage" to cast a sign, which I find troubling. On the flip side, all combat activations are far more fluid, apparently, compared to Witcher 2. Geralt used to like to string together motions on delays--so he'd continue swinging a sword through some combos while you are trying to dodge, was slow to respond to dodges or parrys, or signs, which certainly annoyed me with that combat. I think in the end, if that bit is really polished, I could tolerate a less fluid sign/sword type of combat. As long as everything is responsive, I think it's easier to adjust mechanics, especially as there is a dodge mechanic added to the roll, which is nice.
