Eurogamer did their usual platform Face Off article.

As expected, PC on top with the PS4 and Xbox One fighting for scraps The console draw distance is far inferior to the PC version, especially for vegetation and shadows. Physics effects are also of much higher quality on the PC version, and texture quality is much more consistent. The console versions also have a very low tessellation factor, compared to the 64x for ultra quality on the PC.

Anyone get to Skellege island yet? I'm there now but I was wondering at what point (or where) I get the Bear School gear treasure hunt quest. Just hit lv32 and was wondering if I can get better gear than what I have which consists of a full set of superior cat school gear. Doing the master armorer quest line and hopefully it leads to some good armor.

Another thing that article didn't cover is mods. Most make a difference only in well lit situations for now but it seems the engine is open for custom input so I'm curious what the possibilities are. Maybe the infamous downgrade gate can now be restored to it's rounded glory, modders have to be itching to do it. CineFx works out great with lots of "daylight", I haven't tried others yet.

I'm loving the game. I don't know what else to say. It has it's flaws and annoyances but it's still the best RPG I ever laid my eyes on. And I still have ~80% of it to play yet but I've already gotten what another full+dlc game would have had to offer.

So I just came along this cutscene in the game and, well, it really amazed me. I have to say aside from the face, hands are the second hardest thing to render in 3d. Not only do you need to get the natural finger movements but everything needs to be portioned correctly and then a convincing skin texture, esp for the palm. So when I saw this close up I was pretty stunned at how well it looked. I think what nails this apart from any other game I've seen in the past is the nails and cuticles are not only rendered, but thanks to HBAO++ they cast perfect shadows onto the finger tips.

Wow how did you get to level 32 already? Gotta say out everyone always complaining about graphics and all I'm loving the game and I didn't even think I would be able to play it on my rig.

I'm at ~30 hours and level 8...how the fuck are people leveling like this?

OK, so 5 of those hours are AFK, and I spent a considerable amount of time overburdened, and so strolling slowly through some underground caverns in the middle of a long quest that you can't escape for some hours (the witch one in Velen) but still....

Easily. At Level 12 and I just focus on the side quests barely doing the main quest so far. Do as much as you can, explore as much as you can. You can do quests 2-3 levels higher than your own with the difficulty pushed down. 25hrs+ in. You'll eventually find saddlebags and upgraded versions to carry more and blinders so your horse doesn't bolt as much. Speak to every merchant.

Went into Novigrad today, first stop the 2 whorehouses, most impressive CD Projekt! How many whorehouses did Skyrim have? Hmmmm? :whiste:

Some hilarious dialogue screens, plus a bonus of some executions:

Its also hilarious that consoles can't even match the "High" preset no Hairworks at a solid 30FPS (never mind 60FPS). Pansy tablet CPUs and sub standard 7770 to the rescue!

No, there are far too many problems with if the feedback thread on Nvidia's forum is anything to go by.
I've got issues in other games, but my last driver had issues with TW3, which is why I upgraded. So, for now, it's TW3 and Dwarf Fortress only, for me .

Where did this one go?

I distinctly remember
sending her to kaer morhen, so when the main quest took me back there I checked but she's conspicuously absent
.

I ended up banging her
and slaughtering her
. Oopsie. That was the village witch in the beginning right - Keira Metz?

I'm in Velen too ,done that Witch one and on the baron's wife/daughter one as well, still only level 8 with 14 hours or so playing time.

I did notice it gets harder in Velen with monsters and bandits, levels seem a lot harder to me.

You have to be careful exploring there since can easily run into mobs way higher then you and get killed if you don't run.

As much as you think our video cards are bad ass today.. they still can't render a complete 3d forest for miles out. All games do it, and all games will continue to do it for the near future. In fact until the day our video cards have a budget that can render individual leaves, you will never see the removal of tree's being reduced to 2d panels in the distance.

And even then... unless rendering 3d suddenly allows for unlimited resources, no one is going to sacrifice GPU budget on rendering far off trees when that same performance can be used to render even more detail close up.

Well, it is not so much in the distance as it is upright in your face.

edit : also, this happens alot, draw sword(1), engage enemy(bandit), geralt will now put sword away and begin boxing ..like bringing fists to a sword fight. I have to squeeze out a "retarded idiot" every time it happens.. annoying.

edit : or getting yourself cought in an 'invisible corner', while fighting.. great too.

They play on easy mode, easy mode is like skyrim you can breeze through the game real fast. Play on hardest mode for better enjoyment.

Heh, what makes you think people are going to do what you tell them, in this of all games?

I have over 40 hours or something now. I must have played for 13 hours straight between friday and saturday heh. Once you get to Velen and Novigrad and if you explore enough you will invariably get a good amount of xp. Gone are quests that give 5xp and the monsters you fight get xp bonus from your trophies. Then on Skellige there are more opportunities for xp. There are some NPCs that give you bonus xp for certain dialogue choices. Levels started rolling in quickly from doing Witcher Contracts especially. You can fight things above your level if you are careful with the dodge machanic. Dodge, attack and dodge again. Don't get greedy and peck away at health. It's annoying at times but there are considerable amounts of xp to be had. You can't go too far above your level though, you will do almost no damage and they will 1 shot you.

There's a quest for her and here is what happened to my play through.
There's an island she goes to to get papers from a mage experimenting with plagues. Geralt confronts her and tries to talk her out of it but they fight. You kill her and destroy the documents. I ended up directing Letho to Kaer Morhen though.

They play on easy mode, easy mode is like skyrim you can breeze through the game real fast. Play on hardest mode for better enjoyment.

Nice try, I just play on Normal. Have fun believing everyone plays on easy and you're some gift to gaming playing on hard.

BTW: if you play on the hardest mode you have permadeath. I don't know how many people are playing that way.

Started playing last night. I can see the potential in the open world. One thing that bugged me during the initial tutorial was the voice overs. Geralt was talking to Vesemer on the balcony and it sounded like they were in a studio room, not outside in the mountains. I would have thought they'd use better audio processing to simulate the environment they were speaking in. Then Geralt's necklace started bugging out and was jumping around his neck while they talked. A janky start, but I'm loving the open world exploration and can't wait to play more.

Man, pop-in on on the consoles is crazy... I would get distracted to hell! Looks like I'm getting it on PC then (after upgrading it).

Uhmm.. MOST movies when the camera is in as close as it is here, the voices are as clear and strong as if you are standing right next to them.. because you are.

Quite a few Phenom 2 users, esp with 970GTX's , doing youtube videos playing it. They were all running x4 and x8, but my guess is x3 will just be a little slower. So it won't be optimal, but it is possible.

BTW: if you play on the hardest mode you have permadeath. I don't know how many people are playing that way.

I just looked this up, apparently it did not make the final cut. The hardest mode is not permadeath. Havn't heard of anything unlocking when you finish the game yet.
