So Patch 1.04, my 5930K is showing way more usage across all threads/cores plus VRAM and RAM usage has increased 500MB+, Ultra textures now with Sharpening on High crack 2.2GB, 1.03 was 1500MB-1900MB or so, RAM has hit 5.8GB before it was around 5.2GB. Some screenshots:

Also if you have finished the main quest, you haven't really played the game; the meat is everything else, just look at these shots in-game after 30hrs (and this is only the first of the "big" maps (and a section):

Click twice for 1200p.

I'm a bit concerned that once I start running TW3 on a powerful PC at 60fps a whole lot of stutter will come out of the woodwork, fine stutter that was previously masked by the low framerate.

Max Pre-Rendered Frames: 1 should take care of that, as long as you can maintain 60fps always.

Look at the mipmap improvements from patch 1.04:

1.03 on the left and 1.04 on the right. It's subtle but noticeable. Now this is what I call dedication! CDPR will be improving the quality of the game for months to come

Nice! I hope they keep pushing the PC version as there's still plenty of untapped power to go around for those that have the hardware.

I started having a lot of crashes last night.
Screen just freezes but sound continues in background.
Anyone found a fix for these or is this just a wait for future patch situation?

Running latest driver meant for the witcher 3 release.

You can see in the shots I posted. RedEngine is very well threaded.

What about stuttering? Has it improved?

For me it has improved a bit, but it's still there. It's very sporadic though, but it mostly happens during galloping on Roach through dense areas, especially in storms. It's actually more accurate to characterize it as "blips" rather than full on stuttering, at least for me.

Mine is probably due to SLI. It usually takes a few driver releases and patches before everything is running up to snuff.

Storms some towns yes, others no, dips to 50 ish you can feel. Some hitching walking into/through Novigrad (level transitioning in background?). Not too bad in the end. Still surprising that a 780 Ti can't max this out less Hairworks at 1200p at a solid 60FPS given the downgrade but mostly High is OK. These recent patches are 500MB+, full marks for the devs putting in effort at least. Inquisition took a month or two before patches were shat out (and I had basically finished the game).

Running Afterburner? Try enabling low-level IO driver and enable Force constant voltage in the options.

OK I completely solved the blip issue. I first thought the stuttering was due to how the engine was doing background streaming, but I was wrong. Apparently it's just because the frame rate was dropping below 60 FPS at times, though most of the time it was at 60.

I overclocked my GTX 980 FTWs which have stock clocks at 1279, and max boost clock at 1392 in SLI mode to 1480MHz, plus a slight overclock in the memory clock to 7.7GHz

Doing this completely eradicated those minor blips I was getting. I guess this game is just really, really demanding as this is the first game I've ever played where I needed to overclock my GPUs to get a steady 60 FPS.

Granted this is at 1440p with everything dialed to the max, and damn, does it look gorgeous All of the dynamic lighting and shadows really take their toll on your hardware.

Hopefully after drivers become more optimized, I won't need to overclock them..

Yes I am running Afterburner, however forcing constant voltage is not something I want to resort to you.
Its such a great game, but the constant crashing is frustrating.

With Keira? You have one more boss, but he really isn't that tough with proper oil + dodging skills. He looks scary, but he really isn't all that bad.

TBH, I haven't noticed too many problems with damaged swords/armor. I just hack away until stuff dies, even with swords at 0%. I have to dodge more, but whatever.

I feel that the swords crap out way too quickly, but I suppose that is more realistic. That being said, armor is way the hell too resilient in comparison. I mean, demon scratches my light leather armor one or two times, that shit should be worthless without repairs, but I rarely see an armor piece dip below 80% before it gets replaced. .
Yea that quest. I don't think I have any oils either and I'd hate to turn the difficulty down. I love these type of games but I'm horrible at them. I'm almost tempted to stop playing and upgrade my system. I could probably run everything on ultra except hair works and probably manage playing without it being slow. I will most likely load another save and do another quest first.

I should have bought the game guide for it, this is one game it would be useful for as there is tons to do and it would be nice to know what I'm running into or looking for.

The newest Nvidia drivers caused me to crash for the first time. Quick check on Google, seems others have similar issue.

I'm rolling back to GTA5 release drivers which were more stable for me.

Wont help me since I have an amd card.

I started cranking stuff to ultra. In smaller places frames go 50-60, out in the world its more around 30, sometimes less. I probably need to down a few things. Kinda want a 390x now though. To be honest I don't see enough difference to matter to me in its current state. However when I was in the vizima castle, that is what made me feel like I was back in tw2.

I learned to start doing alchemy all the time. Just go through your list and make everything that's green. Oils helped make the noonwraith quest feel like easy mode.

I'm also not leveling very fast, although I've several points I've been able to apply. Problem being I could really use more than 3 slots right now! I like wandering around more than the main quests so I usually just set off and head for points of interest (I walk everywhere), and if I run across something 10+ levels higher in run away.

My biggest annoyance with the game right now is characters popping in. I get why that's necessary, but not right as I walk up on them.

You should have no problem with Ultra if you disable hairworks and shadows on low ,maybe turn down viewing distance a touch.

As to game guide there is one here(still in the works so unfinished) ,

http://guides.gamepressure.com/thewitcher3/guide.asp?ID=30694

You should now be ready to handle W3 if you get stuck,I recommend reading the starter tips here http://guides.gamepressure.com/thewitcher3/guide.asp?ID=30659 .

That's good to know I'll have to check that out when I'm home. I'll also mess around with ultra settings just to see how it will run.

I'm running it on 1080p with most ultra settings on my 280x OC,not had a single crash(except that inventory freeze bug once, setting frames unlimited in options fixed that I believe), performance was still good .

I'll probably benchmark again with the new 1.04 patch.

I also have a 2500k overclocked.

I crash quite a bit. But I'm oc'ing my 970's to the death lol. Need more frames!

Wish there were a HUD hide/unhide key like Witcher 2. 1080p@60fps is cake, but I can't put 100+ hours on my plasma with this HUD. 1600p is a struggle.

In my game I killed them. I don't know if there was dialogue options not to kill them, but if there was, maybe the game got confused for you and ignored your choice. I think these were the guys, they were badmouthing a younger woman or something:

Aren't they the ones that you fight the first time you leave the tavern, when the game introduces you to fistfighting? I thought fist fighting didn't kill, it just KO'd.

I can run Ultra everything at 1080p on my PC but dropped to High because I can't tell the difference visually. I also don't stop every steps to look at a static image, I run and play the game and can't see a damn difference between Ultra and High.

I also dropped Sharpening from High to Low cause I didn't liked the High effect on the overall visuals. I much prefer the Low settings.

Everything else is high but I turned off Motion Blur and Depth of Field.

I'm not far in the game, just arrived at Hang's man Tree and the number of sidequests and places of interest to explore is just amazing. CDPR made an awesome job on this title and for that they have my lasting gratitude, until they turn to the dark side.

Motion blur is off here as well.

Settings I use for AMD people with similar card to mine 280X OC@1080p

HBAO+
Viewing distance(listed as foliage distance) down one notch from max.
Motion blur off
Sharpening on low, high(max) looked too sharp but did not really effect performance so preference thing that one.
Shadows low
Hairworks disabled.
Frames per second unlimited.
Vsync on
Bloom and depth of field are enabled on mine but preference thing.
Everything else on Ultra or enabled.

I did a new benchmark and was getting 42 to 48 FPS,average was solid 45FPS outdoors with a lot of trees blowing etc so very happy with that, also I could see the improvement in texture detail with the 1.04 patch so nice to see it improve visually.

Benchmark was outdoors in Velen using Fraps, using cats 14.12 drivers (yes I know old but very stable).

Do check your settings in options since the patch update reset some of my custom settings.
