Jenny O’ The Woods is this a joke? I am lvl 12 and cant even get her close to half HP, she does a ridiculous amount of damage and I find my self with no hp within a minute or so. Anyone got any advice on how to beat her? I am using spectre oil and YRDEN but even still it feels impossible.

she took me a few tries because she does hit hard and heals real fast with the adds. I think I was level 10 when I tried her?

Also throw in a thunderbolt potion--really helps. I buffed Yrden with 1 point for extended time, which I find helps to keep it out longer, and so you get more frequent casts, because you can't touch her without it.

I rotated Yrden, then Quen, for those just in case moments when I'm too slow to dodge, and refresh whenever it goes down.

Main thing is to kill her adds asap because they drain your life super fast, and heal her just as quickly.

Probably already been asked in this epicly long thread (testament that the game is probably good). I heard it was more open world then other Witcher games, is this true? More like Elder scrolls like game?
No. Your sandbox is defined basically as bubbles of civilized lands. So, still very different. But, once you get out of the first little area, you can try to go anywhere and do anything you want, within those bounds. But, you're not trapped within the physical bounds of your current quests, once you get going. Also, there's plenty of places to go, and things to do.

I was hoping the alternative Yennefer DLC might make her look less out of place in the game, but it only changed her clothes and if anything it's made her look more ridiculous.

I guess they can take liberties with sorceresses and use "because magic" as the hand-waving catch-all explanation, but seriously that damned woman looks like she's straight out of a Pantene advert. Also, "I'm going to change into my travelling gear" she says, and then reappears in high heels. Prancing through the mud and monster entrails...
"Because magic," is in the books, too. Sorceresses, like witchers, live a very long time, die from being killed, not their bodies failing, are either immune to diseases or can cure themselves, and give up fertility as part of a trade for more power. Many alter their bodies with magic, so they always look like what they want to look like, regardless of their appearance due to biology. So, any that aren't perfect 10s are those that don't want to be; and some have reputations as sluts every bit as much as Geralt does.

Do it during the day. Easy, peasy.

You are rather poor starting off for many hours. This is how I conserved cash:

--don't bother with crafter repairs--they are super expensive, so just use the kits you find while looting, or occasionally buy your own kits. The damage issues really aren't that bad--I often walk around with red stuff and just don't give a damn.
--Do the ? events regularly, and you should have enough good loot to replace your damaged gear without wasting repairs
--don't buy mats--just dismantle the junk loot you find from endless looting.
--If you are really desperate for coin, then focus on monster nests (the ones that you have to blow up with bombs). You can frequently find gold ruby rings from those. Dismantle the ring into gold and ruby, sell the rubies.

I played the card game once in ~70 hours...can't get into it. haven't bothered. Not sure what I'm missing, but don't really care yet.

Anyone notice this weird "arms up" graphic bug that I've now gotten twice? Suddenly, most character models will raise both arms out, like classic slow zombies, lose their feet and hover through town like ghosts, and more often than not, lose their faces. Sometimes their hands will detach, and heads will detach and hover next to their bodies. I took some hilarious pics last night. Will try to post when I get home.

someone else posted a video:

The biggest difference between Elder Scrolls and this is that in Skyrim for example every cave has to load. When you left the cave you load the world again. When you go to a town the town has a loading screen. In this game everything on the map is seamlessly accessible. No loading when entering a town, cave etc. The only loading occurs when you use a fast travel location. There are separate areas with their own map, but once that loads you can go anywhere on that map without loading screens.

I have also noticed that when I kill a pack of wolves, go off to do a quest and run across the area again, it remembers I left loot there (wolves can give skin, meat etc).

She drains your life when she splits into three. So just run away when she does that and she will change back into herself

Estimates are that for the main storyline, sidequests and exploring all ? areas - the game has about 125 hours of content in it. Some guy on reddit said he did everything he could find and has 150 hours spent in the game.

I think Skyrim does that too. I know Fallout 3 leaves loot on the ground wherever it lands.

Heh, and they say GTA V is "graphic":

Just under 50hrs in, Level 17, explored around 80% of Velen, LOTS to explore:

Yes I am running Afterburner, however forcing constant voltage is not something I want to resort to you.
Its such a great game, but the constant crashing is frustrating.

Came back to say I found a fix. You need to run Gigabyte's Overclock Guru, and use their Offset minimum voltage bump instead of Offset Max like Afterburner and Precision use. I use a tiny 0.025v to make it stable in and out of game.

Compared to the number of pixels occupied by the game's HUD already, does it really make that much difference?

I guess it's a matter of personal preference. For me, after I'm done monitoring my frame rate, I have to tab out and close fraps, even the "tiny" counter is distracting.

The number of pixels occupied by the HUD as you put is variable for a reason. HUD can be resized and individual elements turned off. It applies to other games too, I found Unity much more enjoyable with all HUD elements turned off.

I've been running fraps in the top right of my screen for years, just got use to it I guess. Also use it right now to take screenshots, wish the steam overlay would get fixed.

14 hours til a sex scene? Tsk tsk tw3, slacking on me! Should've had one immediately, ala 2. Guessing I can find prostitutes in oxenfurt, which will be one of my next destinations. If I can stop doing other stuff. Currently been rather enjoying the main missions in velen.

Crafted some kind of armour last night that helped my stats but sure is ugly and it makes me look fat .

Took me far too long to figure out quick save as it didn't seem to work for me when I first got the game (is the button mapping even in the menu?). Learning to save all the damn time as the game does a poor job of autosaving. It should really auto save whenever leaving important dialogue and beginning a new part, but it doesn't (or it's broken) and I've had that bite me several times so I keep having to go through the dialogues.

Latest annoyance, how geralt says "I'm a witcher", something about it just seems so off.

Anyone else just walk everywhere? I love just seeing the world which is nicely varied and stumbling upon things.

Thanks for the update. I have determined based on other games,
that this driver, 352.86 is very buggy and plenty of people are having issues.
I will try Gigabyte Guru though, hopefully it helps.

47 hours here at level 17,so we are about the same.

Velen has some very high mobs, saw a level 28 and some elite monsters with no levels but one hit kills, yes I had a go lol but instant death.

Game is still very stable with my AMD Cats 14.12s,in fact the last 35+ hours not a single freeze or crash, not bad considering I've an overclocked video card and CPU .

You walk? I spent 35 hours in WO, 80 hours in now, still haven't caught up with Yen. Vesemir spent like a week waiting for me in that tavern

Have to share a few images that have left a lasting impression with me, "a night to remember" indeed:
