yes, good point. Also, don't forget to roll out when you get ganged up on. If you don't you'll at best break your armour and at worst get killed. And always remember, when in doubt quen, quen, and if that doesn't work give it another dose of quen.

Screw quen, light them up with Igni and burn their armor off perminately. Then jump in with +6% chance to instant kill, +30 armor piercing, +10% critical hit chance, +25% critical hit damage, and +150% attack damage bonus with a weapon that has a 3% chance to dismember combined with a trophy for extra 10% chance to dismember, and 5% chance to cause bleeding.

Hey there is more than one way to skin this cat for sure. Just noticed in my case that with the heavy crits I was landing their armour was like paper anyway. but, yes you can go about this in many, many different ways and still win.

I'm unemployed right now and in the middle of obtaining the CPA designation. that affords me more time than a "grown up" should have. Having said that, I've beaten the game. Kinda sad I know . Anyway, let me give you some advice. This game focuses entirely on quests as the means of giving xp. You may get 4 xp or so for killing a mob 9 levels higher than you. I went after contracts at way to low a level thinking I would be ahead of the curve. In fact I ended the game 4 levels lower than the reviewers that "rushed" the game. So, just do the secondary stuff and witcher contracts as you are around the correct level. the secondary and main story line quests are your primary means of getting xp. As far as the most powerful build, it is without question a light armour plus crit damage build. I didn't even manage to find all the pieces of ANY school gear and was using a yellow sword with plus 10 crit chance. I had 30% crit chance on light and 35% crit damage on heavy. Take the cat school techniques out of the neutral stuff. Also, I've tried various builds and have found signs far inferior to putting 7 skills of combat, not bothering with the special hits, and the remainder in alchemy. Don't ignore bombs, take two points of time dilation and put all 3 points into the skill that gives you another point of tolerance per recipe known for each respective alchemy formula level. In this way I had a max toxicity of 272 at the end of the game. On the second row of alchemy, you'll find two skills that are in my opinion vital. The first, with 5 points gives you 25% health instantly when you drink any potion! The second gives you 1000 extra vitality when you are under the effects of any decoction. With significant points in alchemy these decoctions can last nearly an hour. Also, there is a decoction that gives you even greater critcal chance. You can use that one and the troll decoction to give you constant life regen in and out of combat. Even with my ragtag gear I could crit for over 2100 with a basic heavy strike. With the proper searching for witcher school gear I've heard reports of hits for over 6k. The downside of my build? The game becomes a freakin cake walk. Also, the skills in combat tree that raise crit chance also raise crit damage by a significant sum. Also, that 1 point in cat school techniques will give you 100% more crit damage and 25% more basic damage on light attacks with 4 pieces of light armour. Forgot one last tip. On monsters always dodge sideways. In most cases this will allow you to counter with at least a heavy strike and with some mobs a light then a heavy. For humans, you'll have the anti arrow parry skill to not have to chase down the annoying archers and for the rest I would strongly recommend parry and counter strike. In most cases you'll one shot a human.

I'm surprised. I figured a signs or a mage/swordsman build with medium armor would be the most powerful....or definitely at least the most versatile.

Griffin armor with the Griffin specialization allows some mega stamina regeneration, and adds to your sign intensity to boot.. Plus it has much better protection than light armor..

Medium armor really has no apparent weaknesses.

i switch back and forth from medium to light, mainly to change up style and between levels...but holy mother of god, nothing kills things faster for me than a full light with Light armor specialization. it's really quite insane.

It can't hit you if it's already dead, you know?

the game gives you 3 primary damage-avoidance moves, which kinda screams at me to focus on not getting it, so that's what I do. I also trait into the damage reduction on dodge ability, because I'm spending so much time dodging. I find it quite fun to force people to chase me and swing only when I know I'm getting the money shot.

I like my enhanced cat light armour(nice two rune slot on chest armour as well),looks good as well, what you lose in protection you gain in other areas and especially weight.

Found some patch news ,http://www.gamezone.com/news/here-s-the-latest-status-on-the-witcher-3-wild-hunt-s-patch-3417246

So what's the status on this patch? Can we expect it this week?
Well, honestly, we're not sure. CD Projekt RED isn't even sure, as community manager Marcin Momot has yet to even commit to a date.
"We continue working on the patch. Can't give you the exact time it will release - sorry about that," he said on the game's forums. "Once I can share that info with you, I will."
Momot has been pretty good at responding to fans on the forums. Earlier this week he tried to explain that the size of the patch and the number of fixes it contains requires heavy testing.
"Please keep in mind that the patch is extremely large. It addresses a bunch of issues so we need to test it properly. We don't want to fix some stuff, while breaking other," he said.
"And regarding the XP glitch, as we mentioned, the lack of XP doesn't affect the game in a big way. You are still able to level your character as designed."
It's possible the patch could be made available this week, or it could take longer than the weekend, which Momot said the team will work through if needed.

Possible to run this game in CFX without flickering? Just beat the game at lvl 35 in my Mastercraft Ursin Armor/Weapons.

When talking about the witcher armor they all have the same armor rating when you get the master crafted version.

ah, crow's perch...nor sure if that is much of a spoiler.

Medium armor, level 10. Would have been nice to play with back around release. Oh well.

The gear should scale. It's level 30+ for me but I have something better already.

The crossbows, they suck.

The DLC release schedule was set before launch, I'm sure the actual content has been done for ages.

I'm not really worried about losing out on xp, especially with new game + all but officially confirmed. I'm still level 17 and most of the quests I'm doing are still level 12-13.
