I had out of combat bug where you are still in combat even after killing the monster for the quest,in my case was a leshan and I could not loot his body or anything(was still in combat mode with no mobs around) ,I had to reload a previous save and kill him again.

Horse AI with Roach could be better, had him get stuck at fence or trees when you whistle for him to come, still got the card bug with Marquis Serenity so how can that be fixed in patch 1.05 when its still bugged out?

Also sometimes Geralt won't get his weapon out, just stands there with his fists up against monsters, even hitting "2" key for silver sword does not help in that situation.

I had a nasty quest bug with
rescuing dandelion ,the hidden trap door to rescue him would not open with key,I had to reload that about five times and eventually it let me select the hidden door for opening,
Stability still excellent, solid for me as usual.

These bugs need to be fixed soon as possible.
I also ran into the sword issue today fighting a bunch of ghouls. He would just stand there with fists and I didn't realize because I was getting away from a crowd of enemies, until I went to attack one. I've also had the stuck in combat mode issue too but that was before this patch.

What usually happens to me is Geralt auto-draws his sword, but I also automatically hit the key to draw it so, so he re-sheathes it and we attack the monsters in punchy mode. I really wish they'd add an option to totally disable auto draw.

One thing I'm starting to wonder about, especially if NG+ is for real... there are about 70 skills in the game, right? And even if you put points in them, they don't have any effect unless slotted, right? But we only have 12 slots. How does character progression work after about level 28 or whenever the final slot unlocks?

Finally got to Skellige at level 19 with 80 hours played. Arguably at least partially inspired by Skryim I'd say, but gorgeous. The forests there have some of the best environments I've seen in a game.

Also I highly recommend enabling the color blind witcher senses even if you aren't color blind. Much easier to see IMO.

Well once you unlock the final spot and fill it your character progresses by getting more vitality, higher damage output, and the like.

Installed 14.12 drivers and now on every reboot my monitor goes black twice before it comes to the desktop. I uninstalled previous drivers and ran a driver cleaner pro in safe mode before installing these. Wondering if I should go to the 15.5 beta.

Level 30 near 31, just over 70hrs, ignoring most of the question marks in Skellige. Honestly why did the devs put so many smuggler cache's in? I have $45K+ I don't need loot anymore. Going to focus and polish off the main quest now. Done virtually all the contracts I could find and the main secondary quests. Main quest seems rather bland compared to the previous 2. Battle of Kaer Morhen was excellent with echoes of Mass Effect but bits of the rest are meh. The whole finding Ciri part needed more colour.

So does the Kaer Morhen armor ever upgrade more than once?

Also do the starting witcher swords ever upgrade?

I'm 108 hours into the game, level 24 at the moment in Skellige, plenty of those hidden caches in the sea,bit overkill you could say and yes Geralt is probably richest character in the game with 45k ,enough to retire on lol.

I like how some Witcher quests you have to decide on killing or not, also ironic some humans treat Geralt way worst then some monsters.

I fell off the end of the world today. :/

I have managed to get to the boundary twice, first the one with "edge of the world" prompt in the starting area and in Velen at, how to put this without spoiling, a significant looking natural landmark. I was trying to climb a hill and while the terrain was cleverly designed to hide the invisible wall, there was still one spot where the invisible wall became obvious. However, the game did make up for that, it eventually "let me" find a path but then it's instakill once I take the path because I am going there too soon. I have visited every location in Velen without any story progress so I was basically begging to blocked off from locations that are clearly part of story progress. I was curious to see how they addressed this. So far, to keep the touristy type of players from breaking the game, the game guides progress with blocking off relevant locations with inv walls, gates that cannot be opened/barriers than cannot be broken without main story progress and "the edge of the world prompt.

I'm still in Velen. I have one notice board left to clear before I have to move the story forward. I have been working a lot recently but I've still played whenever I could.

It almost feels like relief that "foggy" map areas aren't accessible. I've been as patient as humanely possible, borderline extreme with my avoidance of story progress but if those areas were in, I would have given up on 100%ing the game.

BTW, don't install 1.05 over CineFx, game breaking lighting bug.

You can go to Skillage and then go back to Velen after,I found some quests way too high in Velen so moved on to Skillage which I actually think has a lot of quests and bigger area especially with all those hidden caches.

I keep going back and forth between Skillage and Velen.

Found a merchant while exploring(merchant icon on map) but you can't interact with him, another bug IMHO.

I've found the amount of content to be somewhat stifling honestly. I'm like level 19 and still have a lot of lower-level (12-14) side quests and witcher contracts, main quest says its about level 15, and I'm in Skellige and occasionally find level 25+ quests. I just find myself not knowing where to go or what to do, there's so many options I sometimes just stop lol.

I'd like it if when in the quest log it would show you where those quests are on the map in relation to you so you would know which are closest.

Anybody in skillage had the bug with the druid,he has new quest available ie "!" above his head and on the map but you can't interact with him?..It's at the druid camp.

Just pick something? Levels are almost totally irrelevant in this game. I wish they had just dropped the numbers entirely. Really the only time that level is important is when you run into a monster with a red skull who will be very difficult to fight. Unfortunately there are way too many gamers who can't internalize that their character has advanced unless they see a number increase.

Some of the "!" side quests are only meant to show up at certain times of day. Maybe it's bugged and showing at the wrong time, so you can't actually activate the quest?

Me too, but the kiddies simply must have their progression systems these days.
That's not the only reason why RPGs have numbers.

There's 2 ways to approach "skill" in RPGs.
The player approach. And the character approach.

a) You are the awesommest player in the world ! Give you any game, you will beat it ! With your skilllzzzzz !!! Sublime hand-eye coordination, fast reaction times, twitch control, untouchable dodging, perfect timing, perfect rotations. It's you, the player, who can beat any game.

b) Your Geralt is a badass. He's got awesome gear, sharp swords, nice moves. He knows these wicked witcher signs, they cause a lot of hurt. He knows his enemies, he knows the monsters. He prepares for each fight. He uses the correct oils. He upgrades his gear when possible. He learns more and better potions and bombs. It's Geralt. The Witcher.

Now what happens when a player runs into an enemy that is too tough ? Player of type 1 will keep going, improving his timing, improving his dodging. Maybe try another approach. Use a different sign, or another bomb. After some practicing he might succeed. This is more or less the FPS-approach to games.

What happens when a real RPG-player encounters that tough boss ? He will not be able to defeat the boss. Some (fps-type players) will say: "keep practicing, you loser !". But if you follow this style of play, the most logical, and most fun thing to do, is to make Geralt better. Not the player behind Geralt. Get slightly better gear, learn a few more talents, improve the strength of your signs. I find this way more in style with the idea of an RPG. And I find it more fun too.

So yeah, having gear and skill upgrades in an RPG does make sense.

(And then there is Dark Souls. The game that requires madd skilllzzzz and good gear. Yeah, right. Except that when you encounter a tough boss, you just summon a friend (soon multiple friends) and you duo a boss that was intended to soloed. So much for difficulty).

That's not the only reason why RPGs have numbers.

In the previous witcher games Geralt had levels, but it was not a big deal. You got quests, you did quests. You met enemies and fought them. Some enemies were tough, some that you met repeatedly (like drowners) became easier over time. I'm sure this was all using levels behind the scenes, but it wasn't visible or really relevant to the player.

In TW3 the game is largely the same style (beating enemies over your level is hard but doable, enemies under your level can still be a credible threat) but they chose to put level numbers on quests and enemies. So now you have people worried about choosing the "right" quests for their level, and getting twisted into knots because of the xp bug because now their character sheet will say level 28 when they finish the game instead of saying level 30.

So yeah, leveling is a fairly integral component of RPGs, and I don't really have any ideas offhand for how to totally get rid of it. But it's still a choice whether levels are a behind the scenes mechanic, or a prominent part of the world.

that sucks. I still hold onto the starter armor because the skin is great, hoping I can upgrade it later somehow.

I installed the Nilfgard armor ~level 18, finally went to check it out at level 22 for the first time--it is level 10. I know the Temerian armor never scaled up for me--I often checked, because I like that skin.

Someone mentioned that these armors scale...so when does that happen? I've never seen it.

seeing a lot more bugs after this patch:

Geralt jumps out of boat when using crossbow, plummets from the top of the game world and dies when hitting the boat--noticed this in, I think, 1.04 patch notes as being fixed...but it's the first time I have seen it.

finish a quest/event, then combat music comes on, remains that way through another quest, through cutscenes...all this while, the game thinks I am in combat, so doesn't allow saves. I was able to hit a few checkpoint saves, so that was OK, and it eventually disengaged from combat and I could save again.

Roach controls seem far more jonky than before, despite "improved horse controls"

...now I'm getting too much XP and leveling too fast.
