MSI KT3 Ultra 333
AMD mobile Barton 2400+ 266FSB
Samsung 512MB PC2700 333
Antec 430W

For some reason I change th emultiplier in BIOS and and it doesn't matter it is always 13.5x in windows using cpuid.

Right now it is at 12x150 in the bios but cpuid says it is 13.5x150

Not sure which is right, but I was just wondering what speed am I topped at using the set up I have? Am I being limited by my RAM?

Apparently, you have an Athlon XP processor with the clock multiplier internally locked. Then, my guess is you're at 13.5 x 150. And if you are interested, there are ways to unlock the multiplier in those Athlon XP processors but I'm not the one to talk about that as I'm not very knowledgeable with those newer processors -- but I'm sure other people here can.

The multiplier on the newer Mobile chips are unlocked. However, I don't know if the MSI KT3 motherboard will allow him to change the multiplier in the BIOS (it doesn't appear so). You're not being limited by the RAM, because PC2700 is designed to run at 166 FSB.

What voltage are you running at? You might try increasing the FSB and voltage and see if you can hit 166 FSB.

the mobile Barton 2400+ is supposed to be unlocked according to everyone else who has one. So I gues my board is limiting me to 13.5 although there are options for 14.0 and 15.0 in the BIOS. But when I select any multiplier it reports 13.5x in cpuid. So I guess this means a new mobo if I want to move the multiplier?

Well I got it up to 13.5x166 with Vcore set at 1.65 (cpuid reports 2255 Mhz)

I ran 3dMark (hit 13600) and have played Halo and everything seems to be OK.

The CPU temp according to MBM is 37C at idle

Last time I rebooted I did get a windows xp error but rebooted again and no error.

Not sure if I need to mess with AGP and memory power, right now it is set at auto.

Not the greatest board or ram for overclocking, but a great chip. Go too high with the fsb and your ram will most likely be the bottleneck. If you ram ends up allowing for high fsb then not having locked agp/pci will be the bottleneck and you'll cause instability/fry some component, lol. If you wanna push the limits of that awesome chip, get your hands on some ram with bh-5 chips (discontinued, but can still find it if you look hard or are willing to shell out major cash) or some mushkin dual channel "222 special" along with a good nf2 board like a dfi ultra infinity or abit nf7-s 2.0.

I had a MSI KT3 Ultra 2 didn't like being over 166fsb much at all after awhile it wouldn't go about 160 =( and then that caused my PCI and AGP busses to be lower than 33/66 so it reduced performance in games. I had to drop it down to the 144 area since the PCI 1.5 divider for those boards is at 153fsb.
