Last time I checked, SVC's prices are higher except on the SK-7 model which is equal... see here.

Another reason I favored Case-Mod is due to SVC's payment policy when shipping to an alternate address. It states:

"Note: If your billing and shipping addresses do not match:

1. The shipping address must be filed with the credit card company.
2. The credit card company's telephone number must be entered on the order form.

If these two conditions are not met, your order will be placed on hold and will be delayed indefinitely."

Some of us don't happen to have our school addresses listed with our credit card companies so this deterred me from ordering from them. (I'm not lazy, it's just a pain in the butt to go through this w/ my issuer.)

your loss... it takes a 2 minute call to your credit card company... then you can get whatever you want sent to you. A lot of companies have the same policy. As it is, i have my credit card bills delivered online, but my billing addy is at school... Ditto w/ my shipping. No problems there.

The first time I ordered from SVC, I had different ship/bill addresses. BOTH were on record with my CC company and it still took the fools a week to even ship, and the whole process was a complete joke. However, I did give them a second try, and they were lightening fast with my SK7 and assorted fans. I'll probably buy from them again sometime, but I wouldn't recommend them to others quite yet. Give em a couple of months and see if they can keep those reseller ratings up.

The difference in peformance between them is negligable....I have both and I can't honestly say one does better than the other.

All Copper (SK-7) is better than part Aluminum (AX-7).
I'd say if you're buying in bulk, then price may be a concern, but if you're buying just one, for $19.99 you get SK-7 that can easily compete with other company's heatsinks that cost a lot more than that.

It's OK. :gift: You didn't know, but now you will: *newsflash* Thermalright is better, much better, than Thermaltake for the price.

I wouldn't say that's accurate. There are a lot of people, myself included, who like dealing with them. Their customer service has been great. They've made two tiny mistakes in my orders over the past few months, but they were more than willing to correct it without inconveniencing me. They were very friendly about it too.

Yeah, I don't think they intentionally screw people over like TigerDirect.
It's more like if you're ordering multiple items from them, once in a while they'll screw up an item or two.

You should be all right with small orders.
Once they had SK-6+ for $9.99. Now that was an awsome deal if you didn't want to spring up $20 for SK-7.

Anyone want to buy all these heatsinks and tell me how each of them perform on the same processor and same fan? What kind of fan would everyone here recommend? I want to keep my system cool as sometime it is brought outside and I hit 52c and my system crashes. I do not want a fan above 35 dbs! One with leds or something simillar is welcomed!

Does case-mod allow pickup? I notice they're located in San Jose.

I like svc because they allow pickup. Saves on shipping.

It might be time for some of you to start doing a little research before you embarrass yourselves with comments like that. This reminds me of when I posted a review of Senn MX500?s on Newegg a couple days ago and noticed that the only other person to review them had questioned how they would ?compare to leading brands.?

Don't use a 60mm, use a 80mm turned 45° , less noise more airflow. You might even consider a plastic 80mm-60mm adapter to focus more of the airflow into the center of the heatsink, works for me, keeps my XP1600 Palamino @ XP2000 speeds @ 45C.

Except that Thermalright heatsinks blow away anything Thermaltake has ever made.
Anyone remember the god awful Thermaltake Orb series? Lord help us all...
