I have an SK-7 on my NFS-7 / 2100XP oc'd to 2.2Ghz. It works fine with one of those LED lighted fans from SVC - looks pretty cool too!

My studio where my machines are cannot be hotter then yours. I came up the other day and it was 108 F! And yet I turned on my 2.8C and it never got over 46 C - 48 C and I use both the Bios temp readout and the Hardcano with a thermal probe on the CPU die. Neither displayed over 48 C with 108 F ambient temps.
With stock cooling this would shoot up to 60+C and shut down. I use a Zalman 7000ALCu but this HS but it is definetely as good.
It's a Spider-Man grill, you can see it better here and here (flash used in this last one, obviously). Yeah, because of the way the clips work on the SK-7, I wouldn't try putting any fancy guards on it. Fit would be tight even if you could manage it.Originally posted by: Z80

Yeah dude! you got it! What's that lighted fan at the bottom right of the picture? Looks like it has a spider web like finger guard on it? I tried to put a skull & crossbones finger guard on my CPU fan but the SK-7 fan clips didn't like it.
Yes, I have mine blowing into the heatsink, and I think most people have it this way.Originally posted by: Melectricus
I have a sk7 and it works very well with an 80mm fan, however I have read on a few sites these units work better blowing into the heatsink. I reversed my 80mm variable - holding the same speed - and it dropped the temp about 3degC.
i dont know it just does itOriginally posted by: Vivi

wow, that's pretty nice! How were you able to accomplish this though? And what cfm fan did you use?
For me where I'm at, a few days ago my room got as hot as 99f and my cpu temp would shoot up to 50c and I got 4 fans in my chieftec case running (2 exhaust 2 intake) along with the AX-7. And I'm using it with a 40cfm 80mm fan too on a 1700xp thoroughbred.
Thats not at all bad IIRC for an OC'd 1800. Anyways if you are reading temps from the bios they usually report a bit high. I have always noticed many bios readings to be 3-6ºC higher then actual temp. I use a a thermal probe under the CPU die and one right next to the area where the HS meets the die and I always see lower temps then what the bios states.Originally posted by: Mustanggt
I have one of those Panaflo 1LA on my SLK 800 And my Xp1800 overclocked 2GHZ great fan cant hear it at all, my temps are between 45c and 50 c but I dont care as long as its Quiet and stable.

Well I got my order in from these people today and I am extremely disappointed. Major parts of my order (the cpu cooler and some 3 to 4 pin adapter wires) are missing, without any explanation. The packing was the worst job I have ever seen, bar none. In a 17 inch deep box they threw 3 or 4 handfuls of styrofoam peanuts (3 inches deep) and placed my fans, etc. loose inside the box. It sounded like a box of broken parts when I received it. My order was placed 7/7/03 and took ten days to go cross country and I never received any confirming emails or shipping info from Case-Mods. Their site will just tell you your order has been shipped, no dates, tracking numbers, etc.
I've learned my lesson-all future such orders will be placed with SVC. These guys were a few bucks cheaper, but far slower, less communicative, lousy packing and incomplete order. Just a heads up if anyone was thinking of buying here.
