Thermaltake Golden Orb Probs

Has any one else had problems with a Thermaltake golden Orb for the AMD K7 Athlon Slot A CPU's. I just had one fail after only 4 months of use. I am glad that my motherboard bios will monitor the fan speed and start beeping at me when it stops or slows down below the set limit. Aberdeen Inc is going to replace it. No questions.
Just wondering how good of a hsf this thing is.
It was recommended by Aberdeen when I bought my CPU.

don't the orbs have some problems with not being level on bottom and needing lots of lapping?

I will have to look at that when I take this bad one off. I may have to get some emory paper and sand the new one if it is not flat. I will put a straight edge on it to make sure it is flat.
Anyone else having problems with this hsf?

BrunoPuntzJones you are wrong my friend he is talking about SLOTA and sot socket A so he is talking about a slotA golden orb not the s370 format also navylinux my friend hads the exact same sink on his slotA and has never had a prob and he has had it since october you prolkly just gfot a dud thats all also that sink is a good sink but you wont pull incredible overclcoks with it thats for sure but for runnin stock spedd its a good cooler

blue orbs are horrible...they need to be lapped, alot

Gorbs and any other Thermaltake product (except maybe for the Dragon ORB) are pretty much BAD for AMD processors

Instead of having them replace it, try to get store credit and look at getting a new HSF. Pretty much anything under the sun is better than the Thermaltake setups, unless you're talking P4 coolers. Nonetheless, look at something new.
