Is it ok to connect the 3-pin fan directly to the motherboard or do I have to use an adapter to draw power from a 4-pin power connector?

That's a 6000 rpm 12v fan, I don't recommend connecting it to your mobo. It can be done but you run the risk of burning out the header. Just daisy-chain it to a 4 pin molex.

Agreed .........dont hook it to your mobo.

Also i would reccomend using the manual control dial instead of the heat sensor so you can adjust the rpm yourself

i currently have this fan.

instructions will tell you to use the 4pin molex connector and it will come with the adapter so no need to buy anything else if you plan to buy this fan.

Thanks for the replies. I wanted to use the 3-pin connector instead of using a 4-pin adapter because I suck donkey balls at organizing the wires so I wanted to have as few wires as I can.
