Thinking about getting braces

Getting braces. Two front teeth have a gap that's been there my whole life and wisdom teeth which were not pulled out are now starting to push my two front teeth past each other.

I've heard that after you spend all the time and money on braces your teeth just pop back to their original configuration. Is this true? If it is I might as well not even bother, right?

They will if you don't wear retainers on the recommended basis.

i have a little wire behind my bottom teeth that hold them together. I've very happy I had braces.

edit: and i've never worn a retainer (never instructed to)

if you just want to get rid of the space invisalign is the way to go.
follow the orthodontist/dentist's directions and your teeth won't "pop back".
in fact, they might put a little cemented splint behind your front teeth to make sure they stay in position after the space closes.

could be less. with invisalign it might only take 8 months or so to close the space and you'd be done. first step is an exam with a real dentist not those who play them on ATOT.

I have braces and it took only two months to get my teeth to about near perfect. There still on for those few minor flaws that only the doctor notices. I get them off before the summer and have had them on sense January 05'.

As long as you wear the retainer they won't go back to there original spot.

Yes wear retainers for a few years when you sleep and the wont pop back. Eventually you can stop wearing them all together.

As for invisalign there is still a lot it can't do that normal metal braces can.

invisalign isn't good if you have a lot of teeth to move.

cost more than traditional "meta" braces but it's worth it. Just make sure you brush and floss real well before putting it on after a meal

Also it can't correct underbite and overbites issues

Nah, but I have done some research on this for someone I know who was getting braces. He dentist who does both traditional braces and invisalign also told him that since he had a bad overbite invisalign wouldn't be the best for him. He also had a tooth shooting out on top of his gums which from what I remember he said invisalign wouldn't have been able to correct, but the braces did.
