Thinking about Water Cooling

Well I am dissapointed on how far I've been able to overclock my computer. More than likley it's a result of bad HSF (waiting on them to send me the fop32 like they were supposed to.. instead of chrome orb) and improper mounting (ie, had none of my own thermal compound, so when I took of the HSF that had be installed in a store, the compound probably isn't all there like it should be...)

SO anyways, I got to thinking.. what else cool could I do to my computer. (painted the case too) And then looking at the vapochill system (anyone wanna lend me 1grand [CDN]) and deciding that maybe I should go cheaper. Solution, water cooling!

I don't want to spend my time building it piece by piece (especially living somewhere where I cannot buy things locally) so I looked into kits. One I've seen a couple recomendations for is the AquaStealth system, found at 2cooltek and Aquastealth.com.

Has anyone ever used this before? What sort of noise does it make? (another reason for going water cooling.. noise..) Is it easy to install? From the photos I've seen, I don't undertand how the Aquacube is mounted.. does it just sit there?

Any tips or advice or comments would be extremley helpful...

if you have money , you can go with water cooling Or a homemade water cooling(no recommanded).but i can tell you is you are wasting your money on those kit..first it cost alot.Why dont you just go and get a better cpu?! go and grap a good heatsink...like alpha,globalwin....taisol..etc ..just cost 50 cdn included tax. Those water cooling kits cost you about 200 cdn !

Alstonloong..I Personally i dont OC for the speed, well i guess i do, but its mroe than the speed of the CPU. IF i were to go out and buy a P4 1.5ghz guess what i would try to do with it...OVERCLOCK THE HELL OUT OF IT...Yea thats right. NO matter what speed your CPU is running a true overclocker will OC it.

Some people say its about getting the most performance from what you buy, well for me its the pleasure of doing the things that get that extra 15mhz. Its more expensive to OC if your gonna use water or peltiers, but its fun as hell to get there.

i have no advice on which water rig to go with. Im building my own. Just got everything i need to finish. Will probably have it up and running by next weekend(if not this weekend)

jwyatt.... well if you have the money, go ahead.Emm maybe i have a different view on overclocking then yours. in my view is, overclock can save money and get the best perfomance. In your view, maybe is overclock is fun and exciting .....but is a very expensive hobby. So we have a 2 different kind of view here. Anyway, overclock can let your cpu go to it limits. Thats wat we want, i just wanna do it in a save money way

I'm going the water cooling route as well. I got me a Leufkens kit.

Reasons?

- Much less noise.

- I won't have to upgrade my cooling system once I get a higher clocked CPU.

- Reliability and steady temperatures.

- Last, but not least, higher overclockability, especially with a peltier unit.

And, I needed an excuse to get me my Addtronics case!

Funny thing about watercooling. If you set it up with sturdy components and take your time..you get the nice feeling of leaving one little corner of your world better than it was. Plus take a picture and show your Grandkids, they won't believe what we had to do to get a Gig.

yes, you have a different approach to things. Your's is economical, our's is more perfomance, high-tech, comfort (speak quieter...) oriented.

I have the Leufkins water cooler kit and like it. Have a AMD tbird 1g at 1300mhz and it runs at 39 degrees during warm weather. I had the setup on a p3 850 with a peltier and always had problems with condensation, the water cooler alone would cool the cpu enough that i could reach maximum potential for the cpu, this may not be true in all cases but i think it is for most.


It is quiet and a simple/unclutterd setup [leufkins]

Wanna know how much my water rig has cost so far??? hehe Well ive spent a total of $20.oo on it. That was for a pump that im returning, cuz i found something cheaper ...err...FREE!

Yea buying the Leufken kit or others would be easier, and i could probably swing the cash. The thing im doing is having fun with it. Discovering and developing my personal self!! haha

To bad im poor compared to you. Had I kept that stock known as IBM i bought in the mid 70's i would have a double houses too!!

Wow, I never expected to start a thread getting everyoen fired up.

Personally if I could, and had the skills.. I would build my own. But lacking any knowledge, and any tools what so ever, i either buy by part, or buy a kit.

As for Leufken, it would be more useful if there page was more useful including things like noise rating, and sizes and such. My case is an AOpen HX45A and while I know I can fit the Aquastealth in here (from measruing) I don't know about anything bigger.

Still waiting on hopefully some answers to my post, but the debate has been great!

I was about to e-mail him and ask, when I was looking at the page and scrolled down some more to see and found some sizes. My first worry is that the radiator, both the 9&quot; long one and the 12&quot; giant one, will not fit in the front of my computer case (behind plastic bezel), and I would only be able to mount the normal 9&quot; in the rear. As I write this out to myself I wonder what would be the better situation...

With the Leufken 2.5&quot; x 9&quot; Radiator, I would have to mount it in the back (where there is room, infact I just measured and I have air holes there, I might not even need to do drilling!)

With the Aquastealth, I would have to place it in the front, behind the bezel, and perhaps cut a hole in the bezel and put a grill or cover.

The question then comes down to, which cools better, which is noiser? And what about a peltier?!

Maybe I should get the socket a 118 watt peliter kit, along with my water cooling kit... sounds like the most effective solution, for only a little bit more money.

I think I'll e-mail the guy and ask him more....

BTW you ask if they just sit there.. they don't because most people just use a metal O ring that holds it in place nicely although I've seen some water blocks with clips.. can't remember the site tho..

If you work in a Machine Shop (Great for making water blocks) for an automotive parts manufacturer that builds &quot;continuous flow&quot; fuel pumps (12 V) and automotive AC radiators, it can be quite cheap to go water cooling....I know

What about the Blizzard kit, which I found in a Canadian store here. Anyone have any experiance with this kit? Seems to be kinda intresting too.

I starting thinking about peltiers, and then I think I need a 2nd PSU, or at least a bigger one.

Anyways, still hoping for some advice, maybe some comments about noise and so on... anyone with experiance?
