I keep getting annoyed with XP and insert a Win98se floppy;and then,
type A:\format c:
I hate having 20 programs running, that I have no clue what they are.
With ME I can have 3 running,if I want.

I don't play any computer games besides Solitaire.
I run Seti@home in the background.
I usually have Zonealarm,on,and Mcafee antivirus, but can turn them off easy.

Thanks for trying to help a caveman.

With XP you get stability that ME can never offer. XP can run almost indefinately without a reboot. ME needs to be rebooted daily, if not more.

Who cares what's running in the background if your system is far more stable?

I hate to tell you this, but Windows ME is likely to have the same number of processes running in the background, it's just that the "Task Manager" thing in ME doesn't show them.

XP's worth it, really

Stupid Trillian opens a new instance each time you right click and "open in new browser".

why dont you close some stuff? i cant handle that many windows open at once. it is so disorganized.

You, sir, need to trade in your undoubtedly hugely expensive computer, you don't use it.

Yikes - just looked in my Task manager. That's pretty much a list of background tasks - although I did have firefox running at the time.

Thing is, I actually the them alll - took me ages to work out what they are all supposed to do though.

Only due to the distributed computing project. That could go, but it doesn't seem to harm anything, and might be interesting so it can stay. For now.

Oooh, yeah, I didn't see that until now. At first I thought it was a large file compression of some sort.

That's because every page is the exact same thing, all you've done is prove the usefulness of caching.

After you install Microsoft Office 2000 and have chosen to install all of the graphics filters, you may not see the following filters in the Save as type list in Microsoft Paint./

Crap now I need to install office??????

I never use it,LOL.

Why would you bother to argue? He just needed A version of IrfanView to save a JPEG. Any version will do that, and with OldVersion he can pick a smaller download package. Besides, I wasn't sure if IrfanView had a website and what the URL was so typing OldVersion.com was faster.

Oops, that help file wasn't what I thought it was. Just download IrfanView. It's a very small and light package.
