Ok I have narrowed down my speaker selection to these 3 choices, looking for feedback from anyone that has heard, or owns any of these speakers. If there are any better 5.1 speakers in this price range that I have overlooked, let me know. They will be paired with an audigy 2 zs

Klipsch, Logitech makes crap speakers and Creatives bass is no where near Klipsch's.

If the Promedia 5.1 is anything like the Promedia 2.1, you won't find an equal for sound quality in any multimedia speaker.

Yes, I have the Klipsch 5.1 Ultras and you will not find better MM speakers than these, I know someone with the z680 which is pretty much the same thing as the z 5500 with a 8 inch sub and they arnt even close to being as good as these, boomy bass, no tweeters, etc.

With Logitech your paying for decoders and controll pods, with Klipsch your paying for good sound.

I have both the 5.1 ultra and and 2.1 setup. Although Promedia 2.1 sounds very good, I am very confident to say that the 5.1 ultra sounds better.

I have the Klipsch Ultra 5.1s and I have to say it was the best money I have ever spent on audio. When, I'm gaming I sometimes feel my clothes shaking from the bass. Very high quality for a relatively low price considering the sound you are getting.

I do like the control pod on the z 5500s but I wasnt all that impressed by the sound itself.

Klipsch would be my recommendation.

I own a set of the gigaworks in a 7.1 configuration. I couldn't be happier with them. I've never heard the other speaker systems, but most reviewers say the gigaworks has better sat's and the pro media has better bass. I don't think you can go wrong with either of them. I don't like the logitech's at all. To me they look fugly and the sat's only have one driver vs two for the gigaworks and promedia.

The speakers sound like crap at best buy, trust me they will sound a whole lot better at your house.

Agreed, I have been to a lot of best buy and they actually use the radio channels for testing streams!!
also, in a Bestbuy wide open and noisy environment, you can barely hear the speaker clearly.

Creative, then klipsch.
I can't see how anyone can stand the boomy bass of the logitech. It just washes everything out. I just went to go listen to them at compussr today, and even with the bass at the lowest level, it was still washing away the music. Similar trend with the Z-5300e

One of my roommates had the Klipsch Promedia 5.1 set and man, it was awesome. The absolute best sounding computer speakers I've ever heard by far. I can't really say much about your other 2 choices because I've never personally listened to them, but you will definitely not regret going with Klipsch.

i've got logitech's z680s (almost the same as the 5500s) and am definately satisfied. i've heard all the other speaker systems, and i would still pick the 680s. the klipsch may be alittle better in the highs, but i don't think its worth the price difference. After alittle adjustment the logitech's have very nice high's. i just wasn't very impressed with the creatives, but i also have only heard them instore settings where as i have listened to the klipsch and logitech's in smaller rooms. i would say that if your looking for something that can hit low notes then the logitechs are the easy choice. the 10" sub with easily go lower than any of the others, klipsch will definately bottom out at higher volumes when trying to hit the lower notes. in terms of overall sound quality i may give it to klipsch by a little margin. i just don't feel the price difference makes up for the difference. alot of it depends on your music preference and what you'd be using them for.

My suggestion is if your looking in the Klipsch Promedia 5.1 Ultra's price range your normaly better off w/ a Home Theatre in a Box system by Onkyo or Yamaha. But of those 3 listed I'd prolly go w/ the Klipsch Promedia 5.1 Ultra or possibly the Gigaworks if you want better sounding sats and slightly worse base (of wich both have more than enough base) so depending on what your going for either the Klipsch Promedia 5.1 Ultra or the Gigaworks.

i was under the impression that hts don't perform too well for music and are more tuned for max power than anything. from what I've heard of them that's true. onko's systems are fantastic for movies but when it comes to music they sound a bit muddy.

I will probably look into a HTS sometime in the future, but this is primarily for gaming, and some music. I want to get my pc AWAY from the tv lol, not tie them together
