Time for an upgrade or replacement?

Hey guys,

Another computer just took a dump, and wanted to poll you guys if you think I should upgrade this comp to hold off until winter time when G80/AM2 stuff is in, or should I just replace now...

Here's the deal.. This computer was for gaming, and more specifically BF2... It always ran on low settings and to be honest that is fine for now for this comp.. But my graphics card just died (FX5900 128meg)....

So what do you guys think... Here's the computers specs (its a gateway btw)

CD Rom - NEC 24X/10X/40X CD-RW
DVD Ram - Panasonic DVD-RAM/R Drive
hdd - Western Digital 120GB 7200RPM Hard Drive
memory - 1 gig MEM RIMM 256-MB PC800 256BIT R0
mobo - Intel (Lexington) Motherboard 2.2 GHz P4 R1 - (RUNS 4X AGP for gfx)
sound card - Sound Blaster Live! Value Sound Card R3
Case - Gateway 910 Server Chassis R2
PS - 350w ps
GFX - BFG 5900XT 128 meg ram ( BROKEN )

Just ran 3Dmark05 and got a whopping 1032 score!! I might have broken a record for lowest ever! lol

You could get by with a 6800NU or X800GTO AGP card.

I definately get a new cpu and video card, but since you have rimm, just replace the whole thing

Whats rimm?

Just hate to spend 2k on a new computer when in 8 months the am2 boards will be out and the g80 etc... my only hesitation...

Rambus Inline Memory Module, its RAM thats not used anymore, everthing has pretty much went to DDR. Also the memory is VERY expensive and somewhat hard to find

so concensus is to just get a new comp eh... ok let me start looking around.

I'd want to go as cheap as possible since this thing will prolly last me less than a year.. really want to be able to go to the g80 and AM2..like to eventually push that dell 30" for gaming (expensive, I know) which is why I don't want to spend a lot now..

alot of people around here don't think that AM2 is going to be that big a deal besides memory upgrades, so you could probably upgrade now and put off the new architecture for a while.
