Michelin Energy MXV4. They are supposed to be low rolling resistance and increase your mileage.

The only part of your car that touches the road.

Do you?

Avoid Nexen - you can expect a short life.

Check out TireRack & Discount Tire Direct for reviews & pricing.

Is staying on the road important?

I rarely actually touch the road. I usually hydroplane.

Does a $120 tire touch better than a $40?

You're obviously going to pay more for better quality tires. If you want cheap tires then get cheap tires.

Obviously you are more concerned with a few hunred bucks versus taking a chance on something that could end up, if it catastrophically failed at 70mph, kill you in the blink of an eye.

I have these on my MR2, mainly to match the fronts, which were still good from when I bought the car. I'll likely go with something else after these are done.

I have these on my Tundra. Great tires.

Another recommendation for the Falken Ziex tire.....great in dry and wet. Have bought two sets of them for two different cars and have never regretted it once.

Honestly, I'd much more trust a tire made in Japan (Falken) than most brands made in Korea (Nexen) or the host of Chinese brands flooding the U.S., or even all the Cooper rebrands out there......

I have falken's on my cobra right now for the street. they hold up pretty well actually and i spent 450 out the door on a set of 4 275/40/17's.

dry traction isn't great, but no street tire would be anyway....

I can never understand going cheap on tyres. Buy good tyres cheap, yeah, of course, but never cheap tyres. They are your No. 1 safety device. Why wrap your wheels in cheap crap?

I've been through plenty sets of "good bang for the buck" tires and have never had any problems or blowing out on me yet my previous car had some michelins and they were just piss poor in every way. Replacing them with some Kumhos was a night and day difference. Another time I was driving in my uncle's car that I borrowed, one of the michelins on it blew out on the freeway for no reason. Plenty of tread left on it too.

Not trying to knock on michelins and I'm sure they're great tires but in my experience they're not worth the price.

Yep price/name does not equal quality.

I have nexan, generals, kumhos, and good years on my cars and in-laws cars. The worst are the good years and they cost the most. they are bad in the rain, snow, dry, they are just bad.

If people want to over spend on tires just because they THINK they are getting quality, then go for it. But I have better things to spend my money on and I have never had a blowout or any other problems.

Having owned NexEn 5000's, I can give them a thumbs up. Search actual automotive forums and you'll find mostly positive reviews for the N3000's.

in that size, there's a bunch of inexpensive tires out there. find one with a decent tread pattern and go with that.
