To Quad Or Not To Quad

I'm in the process of purchasing a new system (will probably order in 4 or 5 weeks) and just noticed that the on-line store I'm using to build my system at posted the QX6700 at only about $45 more than the X6800.

The reviews on the QX6700 says that with the games out now there's not a large gain with the QX6700, but will it still be worth getting to future proof the system?

Also would it be a bad idea to get an X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Fatal1ty Pro to go with the Asus P5W DH Deluxe or am I better off saving the money to spend on a DX10 video card instead of the X1950XTX I'm currently looking at?

I currently have Creative Inspire T7700 speakers that I plan on keeping.

Case: Thermaltake Aguila
PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower 750W
Mainboard: Asus P5W DH Deluxe
RAM: Corsair TWIN2X 6400PRO DDR2 2048MB CL5 Kit w/two matched M2X1024-6400PRO
GPU: Sapphire Radeon X1950XTX 512MB GDDR4, PCI-Express, ViVo/HDCP, 2xDVI

Thanks for your input

There's sweet FA gain with dual core over single core at the moment.

You'd be wasting money on either chip. Futureproofing is a mug's game.

Bob's rule of thumb: Spend at least as much on the graphics card as you do on the CPU for a balanced machine, for a gaming machine spend 50% more on the GPU than CPU or as much as you can find.

Sound cards improve sound quality, they don't improve performance in terms of fps. If you want nice audio get an XFI (not that overpriced model unless you need the breakout box), if you want prettier games then get a better GPU.

Good rule of thumb, I'll keep that in mind in the future.
