stupid activists. i actually spoke to my friend who is in vet school (that should imply love for animals) and she said that it was not animal cruelty because the skunk felt no pain.

skunk got sleepy, felt no pain, went to sleep, died. the end.

Skunks carry rabies, it needed to get put down.

now if the OP went around handing sleeping pills to all the dogs and cats in the neighborhood, THEN there would be a problem.
